The Exertion of Freedom

By
Real Estate Agent with Premier Florida Realty of SWFL

This is a not a blog of support for either candidate, but rather a blog of appreication for our freedom, to express our choice and to vote for that choice.  I was walking the dog the other morning and one of the neighbors up the street was placing a sticker on the bumper of her car.  The sticker named the candidate she supported for President in the upcoming election.  She said good morning to the pooch and me and then explained that the sticker was a replacement for one that had been torn off her car. Even though I support the candidate not named on her sticker, I applauded her for obtaining another sticker and exerting her right to freedom of expression.

It's nice to see an unbiased political post, thanks!  I'm looking forward to voting!

I think most of us take for granted the amazing process that this country goes through every four years.  It is very rare for the extremely powerful to simply step down.  Voting is an incredible right that must be used.

I have a no tolerance policy for bumper stickers on my car.  They are NOT allowed, period.  So when I see cars that have a half dozen or so stuck all over what is probably the second most expensive thing they will ever buy, I laugh.  What really kills me though is when I see bumper stickers supporting a political candidate that ran for office about 10 or 15 years ago.  This just really makes me laugh, especially if the candidate they were supporting LOST!!!!  Too funny.  Thanks for the blog Lloyd.

Yes, it is fantastic that we get to vote.  Sadly, what most don't see is how that choice is manipulated, ala voting in single-party countries.  There's a whole slew of candidates, but no real choice.

One of the major parties who shall go unnamed has filed over 20 injunctions and lawsuites to prevent/remove other candidates from the presidential ballots in several states.  So while we get to "vote", our choices are actively being limited.

I'm a third party kind of guy because of all the political rancor.  I don't bring this up to stir the pot between the two biggies.  I point this out because while maintaining the illusion of choice, its actively being curbed.

Sorry to be the rain on the parade, but we've got to wake up to what is going on.

This political season is full of spice, but if it wasn't for the differences of opinion and the ability to express our opinions by voting .... The United States wouldn't be as great as it is.

Thomas: we are allowed to express our opinions. Its what makes this country what it is.

Lewis:Yea its funny.Funnier is when the sticker gets old and cracked and they voted for the side which lost...and its still there after one year. I don't put a sticker on my car but I can't knock these who feel passionate about their side.

Sean:well said. We need to be challenged by different point of views. Its more healthy.
