Even in my rush to the office this morning there was no way I could miss the fact that gas had fallen below the $2.00 mark.  This evening on my way home from a showing in Grandview I pulled into the gas station and took a picture.

Gas Below $2

Unfortunately for me I filled up yesterday when gas was $2.03.  I wonder if it will get below the $1.00 mark.

Linda -- It could be the election but who knows?  I don't think I've ever seen gas prices fall so much so fast.  It seems like just yesterday we were all complaining about gas being $4.

Pretty amazing. It makes me want to go waste gas and take a road trip to MO. Gas is one of my biggest monthly expenses.  Today it was $2.47 here in Charleston, SC.  I hope we'll see it get down to $2.00 too!

I'm already saving $15-20 at the tank for my little Hyundai and now I even have a little pocket change!

I hope that price range will reach Tennessee.  I am embarrassed that I was so proud to pay $2.56 this morning for premium here in Nashville thinking what a great deal to start my day.

I paid $2.90 in Idaho today. I wonder why ours is so hign.

Sarah -- We can all use a little extra pocket change thanks for stopping by.

Kenneth -- I have a feeling that these low prices will be reaching Tennessee real soon.

Sandy -- Yeah gas prices must be complex I had know idea they would vary so much across the country.

I saw a sign (and took a picture of it) today that said $2.33 - lowest I've seen in our neighborhood. Just 3 weeks ago it was $3.59 ~Rita

Wow, I was just dancing because it dropped to 2.93 in Los Angeles suburbs today!  But it is all relative, I guess...I'll take 3 bucks a gallon over 4 any day.  cheers, Harley

Jim -- Yeah I remember gas being over $4 for awhile then it was in the $3.95 range for a real long time.  At the rate its falling I could see gas being $1.89 by Saturday.  I can only hope.

Wow!  In Maryland gas was $2.31 at Sams Club yesterday.  They're usually about ten cents lower than most stations.  What am I going to do with all the extra money?

I was excited to pay $2.60 in NH.  I hope we see a further decrease!  I hope that we don't lose all the gain with the winter heating oil/natural gas costs!

Hi Justin, I've also been keeping track of gas prices...this week we're at $2.50. Consider yourself very lucky!  I will be shocked if it gets below $1.00. wouldn't you? Take care of yourself!

Justin,

You're at $1.97 and you're talking about below $1.00? Let us get close to the $2.00 mark first. We've got 50 cents to go. :)

Sandy -- I would be shocked if it got below $1 but I never thought it would be this low again.

Steve -- We've still got awhile to go before hitting the $1 mark but I'm still hoping we will get there.  Gas fell another 3 cents yesterday.

Justin, I noitce as I drive around it varies quite a bit from on local area to another. Independence seems to always have cheper fuel than Kansas City or Raytown. Even the same chains like QT can be 5 cents higher just a few miles away. It wasn't that long ago we were looking at this...gas prices

Gas prices started to systematically rise about 18 months or so ago.  Now that the election seems to have been bought, gas prices are going down.  Wonder why a presidential candidate would chose to not have public money support.  What is the predominate culture of the oil countries and which candidate did a screwup on pinpointing his faith. Is there a connection? Not sure. But, hey, if you can not knock the buildings down, then why not legislate them down.

This is not Trick or Treat, but it is scary.

Is there a connection....

Justin, I was tickled pink, when the other day I paid $3.279 for gas. I was wondering if it would go under $3. Is'nt intresting what a scam the Oil Industry is pulling on us all?

Endre -- it is intriguing.  When I mad this post I figured that gas prices would at least be close around the country.  I'm surprised to find out that so many people are paying above $3  Thanks for stopping by.

We got to $2.499 here today. What is "E85" in your picture? I hope it's not edible because it doesn't sound tasty -- LOL.

Hey Russell Not sure on the E85. I figured it was ethanol.

The price of gas in the East Peoria, IL area is also $1.97

I had to do a quick turn around and go back to that Shell station and fill up.  After I left there and continued on my way home I saw that the price was $1.99 at a couple of other stations.

I hate the way our economy is falling apart but I sure do love these gas prices!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  :)

We don't have any Phillips 66 stations here anymore. They were all taken over by Shell several years ago. Interestingly, there's one corner here that has two Shell stations on it, one having been a Phillips 66 previously. When it was Phillips 66, it was one of the least expensive gas stations. Now, as a Shell, it's not only one of the most expensive, it IS the most expensive, always 25-30¢ higher than the Shell across the corner. Yet I still see people filling up at the expensive station. Can't figure it out. I shop at ARCO, though, since they are always 10-15¢ less expensive than everyone else in town.

Hi Jim! I had not heard of Shell buying out Phillips 66 I wonder if that is nationwide.  We have a few of those corners in Kansas City where is gas is literally 10-20 cents less across the street.  A local blogger / Realtor Maria Morton just wrote a post about this.  Thanks for commenting.

Hi Jim, I filled up yesterday and gas in St. Joseph was $1.34, I love it, less than half of what it was 5 months ago...now if the food would go down that much life would be great.

Justin - I filled up with gas in Cedar City Utah for $1.49 per gallon, unbelievable. Do you think maybe these high gas prices were helping pay for the presidential election?
