I have an insatiable curiosity. My boys think it's weird that I google everything and am always looking for "whys", "hows" and "whos". In a nutshell.... I like to know things.
So the other night as I was thinking about home sales around the Puget Sound and the decrease in consumer confidence (the only thing really slowing sales in this area in my opinion as there are just too many good buys and qualified buyers for it to be anything else) I thought of how everyone, regardless of income level seems to be cutting back on spending. This then led me to wonder how wealthy someone would need to be in order to be immune to this economic sedative the rest of us are feeling. Which in turn brought about the question, "I wonder what the highest priced sale year to date here in the Seattle area?"
And once the question's asked, I just have to know.
So, drumroll please. The highest sale price for a Single Family home in King County as reported through NWMLS closed in February for just under 16,000,000. In fact, not only is this the highest sale in King County, it's the highest sale in the entire NWMLS database YTD. (at least as far as this statistician is able to determine).
One 10+ Million dollar sale for 2008 (down from two in 2007).
Yet another piece of real estate trivia in my mental vault.

Colleen.....just imagine the marketing fee on that one! Whew! but you made me think, and I'll have to do the same search....It came up with a 7 Bedroom, 8 Bath English Manor "cottage" in Buckhead for $7,000,000. Ahhhh.....
