This is a two part blog.  The first part is to remind you that this weekend is time to turn your clocks back one hour.  Hooray... we can all use that extra hour of sleep. Also, this is a good time to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms.  Do this bi-annually when we turn the clocks is a great way to remember to get this done.

Now did you know that daylight savings in the fall can reduce heart attacks?  In Sweden researches have found that there are less heart attacks once the clocks are rolled back in the fall.  However, this increases in the spring when we move the clocks ahead.  I never knew this... did you?

TRIVIA QUESTION.. YES, I'M DOING ANOTHER ONE....

Do you know who came up with the idea for Daylight Savings?

You will not get an extra hour of sleep.

All you'll do is wake up at the usual time and look out at the dark.

Then when you get sleepy and your eyes are burning in the evening, the clock will tell you that it's only 8:00 p.m.

Well, I don't know about you but the when the body clock says its 6 AM, its 6 AM, whether its still dark outside or not.  My dogs make sure I know that.  Thanks for the reminder.  Ugh...now I have to reset all the clocks in the house.

Lenn.. Right now I get up at 4:30/5:00am to make sure my sons get off to school.  There is NO way that I will NOT sleep for an extra hour... even if it is only until 6am.

I'll let you know what happens.

Debi.. I just found out about this too, this morning.  This is why I wanted to relay this one to others here.  I found this information interesting.  I just wish I knew why?

Gene.. It is amazing how fast time is going lately.  Before you know it, it will be spring and we will be moving the clocks forward.

Do you know who came up with the idea of Daylight Savings?

Richard... Don't forget to change the batteries in the smoke alarms too.  One good thing.. your computer should change by itself.

thank you - thank you - thank you!  I guess if I would rock the news in the morning instead of VH1 I would have known this!           I wonder why it affects the heart attack rate?  Maybe we shouldn't turn the clocks ahead anymore and save some lives!

Kara.. I have no idea why it reduces heart attacks.  My thought on this is that psychologically you know you could get more sleep, which helps you relax.  How does that sound?

Konnie.. Do we go forward or back?  Try to remember it this way.  Spring ahead/fall back.

Valerie, less heart attacks with the time change in the fall, more in the spring. People need sleep.

Valerie, an extra hour of sleep always works for me, and now that I know that it reduces my chances of getting a heart attack I like it even better.

Gary.. It seems that obvious to me too.  Or maybe it is the darkness that makes one more relaxed because they feel they have less to do at night?

George, I can't wait for that extra hour of sleep.  Just subconscienously knowing that I can sleep longer will help me relax mentally.

Thanks for the reminder! Actually, last weekend my husband and I thought was the weekend for the time change but I guess they have extended it. Boy, you really get up early. What time does the boys go to school? Are they both at the same school??

I don't know who came up with the idea of Daylight Savings but didn't it begin with something to do with golfing??

Teresa.. I get up so early, so I can get going with MY day.  I usually like taking a shower, without child interruption... with 2 boys around, there isn't much peace and quiet.  My older son, who is like getting molasses to move in the winter, needs to get up by 5:45/6:00am to get him on the bus by 7:20am.

The person that came up with Daylight Savings was Benjamin Franklin.  Hey, that would have been a good trivia question... oh well.

Hope you had a save and happy halloween.

Konnie... The person that first came up with the idea for Daylight Savings was Benjamin Franklin.  This would have been a good question for my weekly Tuesday trivia.. but too late now..
