A Late Birthday Tribute To A Great MOM...AND Phillies Fan...!!!

Mom, today is your birthday...you would have been ninety today, had you not slipped off to a better place in January...!!!  

You were also one of the greatest Phillies fans I've ever known...in fact, thanks for passing it on to us...even your oldest granddaughter, Kelly, is an avid Phillies fan, and is passing it on to her children..!  

I'm not sure whether I should thank you for the Phillies World Championship or offer it to you as a birthday present...belated...!  

On second thought, you chose your grandson Ryan's birthday to leave us...I know you like the back of my hand...you had to pay him back, didn't you...! You know how much of a Phillies fan he is, and you were born on mischief night...I'll bet you had a hand in their victory!!! Heavenly...wasn't it...!!! 

Well, in any event, MOM, you're the greatest...Phillies fan...Mom...Grandmom...Lady...!!!

I know how you feel, my father was an avid Alabama fan, this year they are doing so well in football. Not exactly my team of choice considering I am a devout Auburn fan. It was always a joke between us. Sure do miss him. Your mother is proud as she had the best seat for the game.

Truly, I was thinking the same thing...she would never have been able to attend the game, but from her perspective, she had a much better seat!!! She may even have had a hand in the weather delay!!! :^) Thanks,   Fran

Happy Birthday to your Mom. I too thought of someone last night as the last out was recorded. An old neighbor and friend who was the most avid Phillies fan I ever knew. A great man named Warren Charles. He was also a Realtor most of his life. He didn't make it either to see this yesterday and I know he would be in Heaven if he weren't already! I don't think he ever missed a game... I mean every game. He always had one of those transistor radios if he wasn't watching on TV. Everywhere he'd go... you'd hear him just mutter to himself from time to time... "ah jeesh!" and you knew the Phils just did something stupid. He'd make every child's and grandchild's sporting event and if the Phils were playing you'd see that little earphone hangin out his ear! Everyone who knew him and wanted an update on the game just knew to ask him... "How's the Phils doin? He loved needling me about my Pirates. So here's to the many big Phils fans who missed it.. here , here!
