There's been quite an uproar in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valley areas since Six Flags recently announced that it was putting it's prime Magic Mountain property on the auction block.
Not only is it one of the world's best roller coaster parks, it's also a popular place for local teens and families to enjoy the thrills of the big roller coasters as well as the kiddie section, the Log Jammer and other popular rides. The Magic Mountain property also is host to the Hurricane Harbor water park, a popular summertime attraction for all ages. And of course the popular theme park is the area's largest employer when it gears up for the summer season, and provides plenty of tourism dollars to the Santa Clarita and north San Fernando Valley areas.
In light of all of this, some San Fernando Valley residents have created a new website http://SaveMagicMountain.com to help spread the word and challenge people to do what they can to save Magic Mountain from a developer's bulldozer. SaveMagicMountain.com provides information such as the history of the park, the corporate address of Six Flags so you can write to protest the sale, a forum to post your memories of the park, SaveMagicMountain.com logo merchandise, and the opportunity to join and interest list of potential investors should it get to the point where it appears that the theme park could be sold to developers rather than another theme park operator.
