In the spirit of the season, I thought I'd share with you those movies that made me afraid of the dark (and other things).

My Top Ten Horror Movies (and the best scene)skeleton in tomb

  1. The Exorcist - Linda Blair's head doing a complete 360
  2. The Omen - Little Damien watching his mother fall
  3. Carrie - towards the end, just when you think it's over.....
  4. Jaws - Brody is throwing out chum and the shark surprises him. ("We're gonna need a bigger boat.")
  5. Friday the 13th - Jason strikes from under the bed
  6. The Shining - "Here's Johnny."
  7. Psycho - Oh course, the shower scene.
  8. Halloween - Michael Myers as the "ghost"
  9. Silence of the Lambs - "Hello Clarice"  It's just the way he says it, sends shivers up my spine.
  10. Alien - the scene where the alien bursts out of the guy's chest.

What about you?  What movie scared the daylights out of you?

Happy Halloween

Anita~ The Exorcist scared the daylights our of me!  I wouldn't never watch it again.

Jaws scared me too, but I have watched that many times again. I am not a fan of horror movies, so I don't reaaly watch them anymore.

OK -- why is Jeepers Creepers or Pumpkin Head not on the list -- those two are classic scary screamers.

I give you 2 thumbs up for The Exorcist as the #1 of all time. However, with The Shining, I like the scene where the little bo says "Redrum, redrum..."

Funniest horror movie is APril Fools Day... Hilarious!

Scariest is tough, but I did enjoy "The Cave" and my personal favorite... Nightmare on Elm Street with Freddy Kruger and the scene with the Blood spewing from the bed after he swallows her into it... ewwww....

Vickie - I had nightmares and woke up screaming for days after watching The Exorcist.  And the first time I saw Jaws I didn't go back to the beach all summer.  Now though it doesn't bother me as much. :)

Eric - Jeepers Creepers and Pumpkin Head are of course classic horror flicks but I could only pick 10 and I think I picked these because they had the most impact on me for whatever reason.

Alan - oh yeah that was a great line too. :)

Carole - the Devils Advocate was a great movie!  Definitely twisted. :)

Jeffrey - that little boy was just a little creepy.  *shivers*

Sean - I don't think I've ever heard of April Fools Day.  And I didn't see the Cave.  But yes that scene from Nightmare on Elmstreet is definitely a classic moment.

Tim - Hard Candy sounds vaguely familiar.  Wasn't there another one called Candyman?
