Dormont's Dor-Stop Restaurant

The Dor-Stop Restaurant in Dormont was featured on the Food Network a couple of days ago with host Guy Fieri. Way to go!

Locally, Pittsburgh Magazine had this to say about it:  "This quaint, family-run diner couldn't be better situated than its place along a beautiful tree-lined street. Dor-Stop began serving homemade potato pancakes, one of its biggest breakfast hits, in 1986. The friendly atmosphere is evident as soon as you enter through the original screen door when the owners and staff greet you with a smile.

Diner favorites include a litany of original-recipe pancakes, including oatmeal cakes, which have the taste of warm oatmeal cookie dough smothered in butter and syrup. Apple-walnut, oatmeal-apple and chocolate chip are a few of the other varieties. Be sure to try the home-baked ham, accompanied by two eggs and potato pancakes served with applesauce or sour cream. Grits, overstuffed burritos and early-bird specials are other favorites. "

And it's been mentioned on a blog called Kristin and Rob's:  "If you live anywhere in or near the south hills, then check out the Dor-Stop restaurant, located in Dormont on Potomac Avenue. They serve delicious breakfast at reasonable prices, and after eating there with my parents the other day, I felt compelled to post about it. Their eggs benedict was the best I have ever had. Check it out if you live nearby!"

Having grown up in Dormont, I have been going to the Dor-Stop since they opened.  They truly deserve the attention that they now get.  The owners are great people!  Thanks for spreading the word about the Dor-Stop even further.

We were visiting Pittsburgh and found the Dor-Stop on urban sppon.  The very best panmcakes Aaron we have ever had.  The raspberry filled french toast was exceptional.  Sarah, our waitress, greeted us with a smile and never stopped.  I dropped my napkin on the floor and was offered a new one.  This place is what a breakfast and lunch/dinner spot ought to be all about. You just feel good all over being at the Dor-Stop.

That blonde lady that is the Manager is really beautiful. She had her hair in a "pony tail" when she appeared on "Diners, Driveins and Dives" tv show.
