TGIF because I'll tune in once again to the 12-week Social Media & Marketing Webinar, hosted by DOMUS CONSULTING GROUP, moderated by  founders KEVIN BOER and PAT KITANO and supported by Active Rain's BRAD ANDERSOHN. Each week we jump on the web and surf a new wave of instruction and information that is value-packed with a pair of training wheels as we are all processing the surge of web-based applications to use in our marketing.  This particular webinar is focused on the marketing side that is applied through Social Media.  Tuning in to this forum has given me a place for learning to understand the framework and powerful potential of Twitter---which has totally surprised me...I never would have considered it to be the UNBELIEVEABLE  power tool that it is for your marketing efforts!  We're also learning to understand RSS (Real Simple Syndication) which Kevin Boer and Pat Kitano refer to as "the glue that holds much of the social media together."  AHA! I love these images. They really help me understand the big picture! THE BIG PICTURE that is hopping with excellent  brews of easier-to-digest information. I guarantee you'll be buzzed with excitement over all the potential, real, down-to-earth possibilities for your everyday business efforts.  Last week we learned to distinguish between PUBlishers and SUBscribers , explained as the two components of RSS (ding! ding!).  The Domus guys spelled this out, illustrating how THE PUBLISHER is a website that produces content and a SUBSCRIBER is the reader of that content. Tools like FEED READERS (google reader, netvines & tons of others) provide a framework for ordering and organizing all of your subscriptions. This basically allows the media to arrive in your inbox, saving you a lot of time and effort and navigating around. It's all very cool, calm and collected---and did I mention FUN?!

Mara it sounds like you are in social media 101. There are really people that don't know the difference between what a publisher and a subscriber is?????

Bill - NOT ANYMORE---it's all been covered! LOL Actually, the main illustration following tthis confirmation of terms, was how to use google reader and then other apps like friendfeed. And I think it's the sign of a good teacher to NOT assume that their listeners actually know much...all the obvious become points in the big picture, once the dots are connected...which is the main purpose of the webinar--HOW TO connect the dots and understand the BIG PICTURE. (I'm sure you'd be bored with all this! ;-)

Mara, I love webinars as they are such an easy way to get educated. You are becoming quite the expert in Social Media I see. Please continue to share what you learn cause we can't get around to all of them. I've got to get better with the RSS feeds myself.

Looks like you're getting some stuff you can use from the webinars Mara, glad you're enjoying them and able to put it all into easy understandable terms.  It's a lot to retain I know, but when we're through, you'll have learned in 12 weeks what takes some a year to learn.

Hope you don't mind me putting a link to the next series that starts in November here.  If so, I will remove it or you can delete this comment.  Not hi-jacking or spamming, just sharing if others may be interested.  Thanks for posting this and for the mention.  :-)

Gary - I get so excited about learning some of these things. It always helps me to have the BIG PICTURE illustrated first, then work backwards or from the outside in...I learn best that way, and they do such a great job at presenting the material in this way. It IS a lot to absorb, but I believe that it's being taken in on other levels, much like learning to play music...you can practice and practice, and then one day, you are at a whole new level of expertise---but never stop practicing tha basic scales, which, right now, are blogging and twittering...lal la la la la!

Carole - You COULDN'T have learned this years ago, because it's only been out for a relatively short span of time... Just keep an open mind and know that you can and will receive whatever is needed for a full experience...you are such a deep listener and intuitive guide... you walk a lighted path...

Mary - I hope it's helpful, or at least motivating to get others excited about learning more about these applications.

Brad - Thanks for the ENHANCEMENT! Anytime, anytime... I'd never doubt your judgment :-)  Thanks for all the work you all are doing for this webinar... it really does ROCK and is a perfect pace & presentation style for me. THANK YOU!!
