Home Stager with Set the Stage

Ok..So I've never actually staged a home for sale before..I have a background in design, even closet design for that matter, and I've decided to start down this wonder road of staging..My accessories are ready to go, portfolio looks good.  I have business materials, etc..The only problem is I'm scared to death to actually call a Realtor!!  Or make any connections for that matter!  I could fail miserably!

Also, a new and interesting development.. Because of my current position as a closet designer, a Realtor expo company called and would like us to be there closet vendor.  So the wheels begin to spin and I bravely ask "do you have a Home Stager?"  He replies, "what's that?"  Cha Ching, right?  I could be thrust into the middle of a real estate expo with a hundred Realtors!  AND be the only stager there.. Am I in over my head OR should I stop being a baby and jump in?  I don't want to take something like this on too soon since I've never actually DONE it before!  Is this a great opportunity or should I be thinking smaller at first?  PLEASE HELP

Hi Rebecca - JUMP IN!!!! Don't let fear of failure hold you back.  It is better to try than to wonder what could have been.  I am new at this myself, however, I talk up my business to who ever will listen.  You never know who you will meet and where.  Always be prepared to market yourself and have your business card ready.

Lots of luck to you, I'm sure you'll be a great success!!!!!

Good lord, if this isnt the universe telling you or begging you to jump in I dont no what is. "your could fail misserably?" the only way you will fail is if you dont do it.

If you are a bit shy about calling an agent then go to the WCR monthly business meeting on April 18th their talk is about real estate invensting, Hello, perfect for a stager to go there.

Here is the PDF for their monthly meetings http://www.wcrrochesterny.com/newspdf/2007%20Event%20Calendar.pdf

http://www.wcrrochesterny.com/index.html  here is the local chapter website. I have been with WCR since 2003 and its a fabulous group. Don't give a sales pitch when you are their but people will ask what you do and give a 60 second commercial of yourself about how you help agents make more money and homeowners sell quickly.

I just coined a term "Networking Voluntarism" in my experience networking and volunteering are the best ways to generate long term business.
