I got contacted today from a Real Estate Education company who claims that they can give me more business by completing their REO designation course. I mentioned to them that I already had a Default Designation from www.RealEstateEducate.com and I asked them what was so special about their designation. Well, the short of it, not much and I discovered a truth that I knew but, didn't really completely realize and that is, many of these REO Education companies are nothing more than Lead Generation companies. If you want to know how I feel about Lead Generation companies, you should click this link and read my blog Lead Generation Shams! Are you paying?

Well, I asked, "can you guarantee me business" and of course, I knew they couldn't and truthfully, I wasn't looking for them to say yes but, something amazing happened....he hung up on me. So, I guess these companies are getting a clue and that is, us Realtors are getting smarter about what they are really offering and that is NOTHING!

Now, I am going to toot my own horn a bit because, no one else will however, I manage a REO Professional Agent website, www.REOPro.NING.com with over 400 members. FYI: you can join to, it's free, just go on line and follow the instructions to become a member........now back on task.

If someone out their runs a legitimate REO Education site or business, one that offers it's graduates real business where they only ask for a fee or charge upon the closing of the sale, then call me because, not only will I sign up but, I will promote the heck out of you on my site www.REOPro.NING.com. For the rest of all you, "Learn REO in an hour" or "We have a list of REO companies once you graduate our program" I say, "GO DIG FOR TREASURE FROM SOME OTHER SUCKER" because I am not falling for it.

Anyone that can show you and lead you to big business can do it without you.  Go to the bank directly.

Jesus,

I like the name.

Thank for this confirmation.  I am weary of all of these types of promotions.  I do not pay for leads.  The only folks getting rich are the manipulative companies.

Jesse, do you think that taking the realestateeducate.com courses is a good move regardless? Are you put on a list sent to IndyMac, Wells Fargo, and Citi?

Also, I am finishing out a four part course put out by First American that is free.  Do you think that puts you at the top of the list for First Am REO? Just curious on your thoughts. Thanks!!

Hi Susan:

Well, let me be clear, I do have my default designation from RealEstateEducate.com however, I can't unequivately prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it has lead to business however, I can honestly say that it taught me a lot about the business.

Now, with that being said, I have to be up front and say that the designation was a very elementary education and i was able to learn much more by networking, blogging and asking questions of other REO Agents.

So, with all that being said, do I think the certification is good, as long as you don't expect it to do much for you as in bring you business.
