A Feng Shui Haunting in Long Island

A Feng Shui Haunting on Long Island New York

I've been reading many stories of Hauntings...it's Halloween, after all.  As a New York Feng Shui Consultant, I have seen my share of homes which my clients claim are haunted---and I never doubt them. ALMOST never doubt them....

Please note:  This is a True Story with a former client.  I am not showing pictures of his home or sharing his name or even his town out of respect for privacy.

One day I received a call from "Sam."  He sounded like a very nice gentleman who lived on Long Island and was advised to call a Feng Shui Consultant by his therapist. Red flag?  I wasn't sure but continued to listen to his story.

He had purchased his home three years ago-and hadn't had ONE full nights sleep since the day he moved in.  He had lights constantly flickering in the kitchen despite three electricians. He also heard noises, his door to his bedroom opening, to be exact.  Though he could see the door from his bed and it WASN'T opening, he'd heard it over and over, every night.

For some reason I was a bit leery to go on this consultation by myself.  He lived in the house with his child and was going through a divorce.  I asked a friend of mine who is a Certified Social Worker if they would go with me and I asked my client if he would be allowed to come as well.

We arrived at his home in Anytown, Long Island to find a well mannered, educated, well dressed man who I could tell was somewhat apprehensive as well.  Prior to his therapist, he's never HEARD of Feng Shui he said.  His home was lovely, well furnished and thought out with his child's artwork and hobbies displayed throughout.

He told us that he and his soon-to-be ex wife had purchased the home three years ago.  She had at the time, an as yet undiagnosed mental condition which they thought to be bipolar Bipolar disorder - MayoClinic.comAlmost from the day they moved in, she got considerably worse and her eventual diagnosis was paranoid schizophrenia.   As she became worse, so did the house, he claimed.  The lights were flickering more often and the noises were almost intolerable.

At first he believed he had electrical problems due to the flickering but no one that he called was able to stop it.  His wife eventually got to the point where she believed there were cameras installed in the home and she began putting up paper and tin foil on all the windows.  He cared a great deal about his wife but was too concerned for his child to allow this to continue and she was finally removed from the home.

I felt very sad for him and knew he was speaking from his heart; this was obviously very difficult for him but I believed him about the noises AND the lights started flickering while we were in the kitchenHe was so relieved to have others see it as well!  As we were touring the home, I noticed all the doors to the rooms were closed off down a long hallway.

He walked ahead opening each door to allow us inside until we reached one of the doors.  I DIDN'T WANT HIM TO OPEN THAT DOOR and didn't know why....I am so careful to try not to allow a client to see me react to something but in this case I couldn't help it and almost involuntarily stepped back.  Both he and my friend noticed.

I got chills without knowing why when he explained It was his ex-wife's former room, still filled with her things.  The energy was so intense it was difficult for me to stay there very long.  I couldn't quite figure it out---what was going on with this HOUSE?

To be continued...........

hi Carole,

I remember you telling me about this house in a telephone conversation...it never ceases to amaze me how energy is transferred onto objects and into surroundings and can remain there for a very long time affecting all of those who enter the environment.

I went into a house a few weeks ago  (a 2yr old upscale townhouse) that had an extremely negative energy drain in it and the longer I was there, the worse I began to feel. It was like an energy vacuum sucking the energy out of all who entered and had a very sad, heavy, forboding feel to it. Yet everything was immaculate and brand new. I was so glad to leave there and it took me over 40 minutes to begin to feel like myself again.

Oh my --  I can hardly wait to find out what happened next!  There are a lot of home that have a different energy when you enter them -- and when you walk around them!  Buyers often comment on that as well!  There are just some homes you want to leave as soon as possible.

Hi Carole This sounds definitely creepy.  I do believe that it was real however.  Just recently I went to a client's home to meet with he and his wife.  From the moment I got in front of the house I began to feel unsettled.  Now I am far from shy or timid, but, I really didn't want to knock on the door.  Once inside I sat in a chair in the LR and barely heard a word of the discussion because I was overwhelmed with the feeling of just wanting to leave  It waas alomost a panic attack which I don't get.  This was the first time that I met the wife who was recovering from a brain tumor.  I made short work of our business and left as quickly as I could without being rude.  It took several hours for me to settle down.  Why?  I haven't a clue.  I called a friend of mine and told her that it made me depressed and heavy.  Right then and there I determined that the financial gain was not worth feeling that way and he is now with another agent.

Katerina, I couldn't see anymore to finish it :)  Besides, it was starting to look like a "wall of words."  I'll finish it very soon!

Sally, I will finish it soon!  I realized at the last minute I hadn't written a scary story for Halloween!

Susan, Thank you, I'll finish it as soon as I can-- it was quite a house!

Deborah, Halloween isn't my favorite day--but I DID have a story for it!

Kris, I think I really overcommented but I couldn't see to finish it...it's coming, honest!

Linda, I will try, it's long (and people HATE long posts!).  Besides, I was bleary eyed.

Kathy, This consult really scared me--not at all usual for me!

Brenda, I'm going to finish it soon, sorry for the cliffhanger (but it was SO long!).

Jo, This house terrified me--and the poor man and his child.  I should have blessed it first but I almost never do that.  The house (except for the lights) didn't feel so awful until he started to open that door...........

Joan, I know and most people DO feel them I believe.  I think they don't know WHY they felt that way--but I too can feel it in certain homes.

Donna, I was out all day but I will try to write it tonight---sorry!!

Brenda, I left about 35 to 40 comments yesterday---and it was getting SO LONG.  I will finish it very soon!

...I am trying not to be impatient...should we submit our twisted endings in a contest type manner??? OK, I think there really was no wife or she was deceased and the husband had been pushed beyond the breaking point and was really the one with mental health issues. And the supposed child...where is the child? was there a child? See what happens to my mind when there is no conclusion. I would be perfect as that dying man in the hospital who stays awake each evening because the story that was being read to him is left unfinished.

Gayle, Believe me, I know the feeling and if you think about the energy of this person going through such an awful experience, it may well have been the pain, grief and anxiety of her energy you were feeling.  I had not until that consultation felt and heard anything like that before.

Cynthia, I had to get a Halloween post in--and thought of one of my most unusual consults.

Rich, My goodness, you DO have quite an imagination!  There WAS a wife, I can assure you...I was surrounded by her things everywhere.  And there was a child (and quite talented he was).  "Sam" was a wonderful person going through a horrible time.

Melissa, It was quite a consultation--I learned WAY more then my client did that day and will never forget it.

Elizabeth, I love that we all have such diverse lives and love each other--not being able to get on here today made me realize it really IS about the friendships.......GBU!!

Carole- I read both this and the concluding post... very interesting. It reminded me of the time I spent the night at a friends house. His parents told stories of the young woman who was haunting the place. Though they said she was a nice and respectful ghost I can't say I ever wanted to spend the night there again.

Carole, I read part two first. This is truly amazing. I had a listing once and a neighbor came to my open house and said this is The Divorce House. Everyone who lived in it got divorced. My sellers were breaking up and I strated worrying about the next person who bought it. I sold it myself and thank God they are still married.
