Gainesway neighborhood profile:

I hope to regularly profile a particular subdivison in Lexington.  Since I live in Gainesway I will make this my first neighborhood profile.

Houses:  Most were built in the mid 1960s.  Our home was built in 1964.  All of the homes are brick or stone and the builders must have been good masons.  I haven't seen a home that looks as if the mortor is beginning to loosen.  One story ramblers, ramblers with basement and split levels are the most common styles.  There are a few saltbox styles and a few other homes in Gainesway that are more of a custom design.  Overall when driving through Gainesway one does not get a cookie cutter type feeling that is present in so many contemporary neighborhoods. All of the houses on our street have very narrow hardwood floor planks. There are a number of quality homes in Gainesway for sale.  You can search for those homes at lbar.com.  Do a subdivision search and choose Gainesway as the subdivision.  Most Gainesway homes are listed for less than 150 thousand.

Gainesway Landscaping:   Most of the homes have deciduous trees such as pin oak and red maples.

Homeowners in Gainesway take pride in keeping their lawns mowed, leaves raked and decorating for the seaasonal holidays.  I am a little surprised that more homeowners do not plant colorful annuals.  I expect it is due to the usually hot summer days.

Neighborhood Businesses:

Chinoe Center is only a mile north of our home.  Kroger's Grocery is the mainstay but there are a number of other businesses.  In an early blog I wrote about The Sweet Magnolia. This is a special place!  South of our home on Tates Creek Road is a larger shopping center with a Greater's Ice Cream and an Ace Hardware Store (very friendly help).  Less than two miles of us is Lansdowne Center. This is the place of Traditional Bank, our insurance agent Michael Lawrence and our Dentist Dr. Matt Lopp.  It also has a great little outdoor nursery and a Fresh Market.  So living in Gainesway is a terrific place to easy, quick access for all your families needs.

Schools and Libraries:

Tates Ceek Elementary, Middle School and High School are all located less than half a mile from our home.  There are also at least three private schools within a couple of miles.  The Tates Creek Branch of the Lexington Library system is less than a mile away also.

Intangibles:

Before we even made an offer on our home we had met one of our neighbors.  Michael Lawrence our new insurance agent was so kind and helpful and when we gave him our address he pleasantly surprised us with the news that he was a neighbor living just a few homes west of us on the same street.  Michael's assurance about the friendliness and stability of the neighborhood was a key reason for us to buy our home.  We have not been disappointed.  We have met all of our immediate neighbors and many others. I always encourage my buyers to learn as much about the neighborhood as possible before making an offer.  I even offer to go with them and introduce them.

This is a great time to buy a home with lower prices and low interest rates.  When you have someone you care about mention they are thinking of buying or selling a home please don't keep me a secret.  Paul at 859-684-5890.
