Al Gore was dull and boring, even Gore and bore rhyme. But George W. Bush was far from a bore.

With questions, George Bush was frequently at a loss for words or creating words, which made him appear spontaneous and ordinary. Many people voted for Bush because he was more "likeable" than Gore. Therefore, in 2000, voters (along with the US Supreme Court) decided that our country needed an average, likeable guy rather than an intelligent, accomplished one. Eight years later, we are paying a hefty price for having Mr. Ordinary as President.

In 2008, Ms. Ordinary is now campaigning to be the Vice President to the oldest presidential nominee in US history. However, it seems that enough people are beginning to realize that they will never meet, much less have a beer with, a presidential nominee - so, it makes no difference if the candidate is likeable - the United State needs a leader that is intelligent and healthy enough to be capable and effective.

John McCain likes war (100 years in Iraq) and Sarah Palin believes that the world may be coming to an end (her church makes Rev. Wright look like a comedian). Thus, WWIII is much more likely with McCain/Palin... McCain will create war(s) and Palin should see war as simply a part of "end times". Prior to Bush, Americans had not seen how much damage a dimwitted president could cause. With Bush's exceptionally low approval ratings, it's evident that many Americans realize they made a mistake by electing Mr. Ordinary. So, without Bush, many Americans would make a mistake by voting for Ms. Ordinary. Thus, Bush has done his part to avert World War III.

Honorable Mention for Nobel Peace Prize - Tina Fey for making a mockery of a conceited, arrogant and uninformed candidate.

What are your thoughts?

Jay

Right on target. Bush's legacy will not be about him leading us into an illegal war, or palling around with John McCain while NOLA drowned, nor relieving himself on our precious Constitution, nor expanding the deficit to inconceivable, unmeasurable levels.

It will be how he helped Obama get elected. Heckuva job.

Turning NC Blue on Tuesday...

Hi Jay. You're title totally threw me at first! :)  Do you think Bush is smart enough to realize that he will inadvertently help Obama win the election? Probably not.  Just like a lot of the Republicans on AR aren't smart enough to know that McCain isn't who should be leading this country for the next 4 years. Whats great is so many Republicans I know have registered as Democrats this year because of the Bush years and McCains campaign and how they have handled themselves. They also were disgusted with a lot of the hateful blogs and posts they saw online by Republicans.

Jay, Jay, Jay!!! I enjoyed our telephone conversation a lot. We must do it again soon. I love how you try to be controversial, but as you have said in other comments, you and I have much in common. We both know, for example, that this election is far from over. We both know that Tuesday will be a long night and we both know that Sarah Palin is an accomplished woman who has more executive experience than the three other candidates combined! In ten years, history will look kindly on President George W Bush. He has been far from perfect. Certainly with regards to spending, he completely forgot who he was supposed to be. But I for one am certainly glad he was President on 9/11 and not Gore. I think we might have seen a white flag (with green trimmings of course) flying from the White House on 9/12 if he had been. America will not want to place herself in the kind of danger an Obama Presidency could represent. America doesn't have a problem with war. We never have. We have a problem with losing. That's why the polls on Iraq have turned so dramatically. Watch my blog tomorrow. I have received an extremely special honor today. I was shocked and amazed to be the recipeint of such a gift and I think when you see what it is I am talking about, you will perhaps gain a greater insight into this country we both love so much and just what it is that makes it so great.

Noqui, whether or not Obama wins NC, the fact that it is close in NC speaks volumes about his candidacy.

Pamela, it wouldn't be surprising if Bush is remembered better in 50-100 years. An Obama administration will restore dignity to the White House and more importantly to the United States. Therefore, the success of an Obama administration will overshadow the many, many failures of the Bush/Cheney administration.

Simon, yes it was a great conversation. As discussed, Tuesday will likely be a long night. However, I hope that whoever prevails will win by, at least, a moderate landslide - and come to the White House with a "mandate". Anyway, I am looking forward to your blog.

The opposite of ordinary is extraordinary.  I suppose the precept is that Obama is the later. He has been ordinary as a US Senator,. The Congressional Record will verify this by his voting record. He apparently often times takes the ordinary way out by either not being present or not voting. That way he can not step on any ones toes by taking a stance.

I will concur with Simon on Bush. He made many mistakes...but no more attacks since 9-11.  That's is rather extraordinary in my eyes.  Don't you love that record low body count this month in Iraq....guess it had something to do with that ordinary surge. In reference to MS. Ordinary...it is pretty extraordinary she got the nomination. Think about it ...a woman gets the V.P. nomination from the conservative party and the liberal party picks it's very own good ol' boy version of Dick Chaney for Libs.... Biden!   Actually I refer to him as the Dan Quail for the Dems.

Jay - Thanks to you I'm developing new-found respect for Dubya.

Simon - You are one of those who keep bringing up "more executive experience".  You do realize that there isn't a rulebook on qualifications for President other than a natural born US Citizen and being of age 35.  And VP being 30 (I believe).  I will leave aside my thoughts on her executive experience.

Hi Jay, hmmm Are you able to read Sarah Palin's mind.  If so, you will be the first man ever to be able to read a woman's mind.  But don't fret -- it will be ok no matter which party wins.  The sun will still rise on Nov. 5th.  :-)

Trey, if Bush can claim responsibility for preventing more domestic Al-Qaeda attacks, then Clinton can make the same claim.

Tchaka, of course "W" didn't plan for this, but it is interesting how it is beginning to appear.

Shirley, I agree the sun will rise on 11/5/08. However, over the next 4 years, with McCain/Palin it's much more likely that the sun will rise over a wasteland than with Obama/Biden.

Trey, do you believe Clinton's claim?
