9 Comments on Should I Take my Home off the Market During the Holidays?
You made some good points, however, usually, the sellers just don't want to or can't keep their house in showing condition because of all the goings on plus guest.
Don, great point about the buyers that are out there during this period of time ARE serious. I hope you are doing well with RE/MAX. You always have the best listings.
Jerry: Thanks for reading! I know holidays are tough with relatives, parties, etc. But if someone is serious about selling their home, it can be a great time to attract that ONE willing and able buyer! Some creative notes in the agent remarks section can certainly help a busy seller; "no showings on 12-23 as the sellers are having a family gathering", etc. The agent will need to stay on top of that & in good contact with their client! Thanks again!
Gary: Thanks again for reading! I have a few good listings, but not enough buyers!
I believe if they truly want to Sell they will do whatever is necessary.
Kathy: Absolutely! I agree! Also, if they REALLY don't want to market the property in the winter or move in the winter, if you build a good relationship, they will be there in the spring again!
Don - FYI. I noticed that you didn't give credit to the original author of this post: Blanche Evans of Realty Times (1998): http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/19981118_mktholidays.htm. Without proper attribution (full link to original article), this could be seen as plagiarism. (In fact, I do not believe that any RealtyTImes articles are allowed ot be reprinted or reproduced.)
If you are new to blogging, this may just be an oversight on your part. Please be more careful of this in the future. Thanks.
Mariana, I most certainly DID give credit to Blanche, it's right at the top of her article, I will certainly check into the reproduction situation. Thanks for the input!
Don - I saw the name, but no link. I believe that you are allowed to take small quotes from the article, but since the majority of your post is her article, you WILL have an issue. It is a copy/paste situation and since this is your blog, the majority of what you write should be your words and thoughts - not copied from someone else.
I know that you may want to share these great articles with others, but the safest way for you to do this is to link to the article, pull out your favorite highlights and provide your thoughts on each highlight.
I speak as someone who teaches people how to blog (and not get sued) on a daily basis. I completely understand that many new bloggers (like yourself) do not fully understand copyright laws - thus the reason I brought it up to you. I would hate to see the hammer come down on you for something that you did not know enough about.
Thanks.
p.s. Here is a post from Active Rain that may make it a little more clear: http://activerain.com/blogsview/770915/Copyright-Is-It-Clear-Are-We-Safe
Mariana: Thank you for your help!
