Blog tourFor those of you who are new(er) around here, a few months ago we started something called blog tours. Last month, we took a hiatus, and John Novak put up a nice post about a spring break blog tour.  This month some of our blog tourists have been wondering "where we are" and so we realized, it is well past time for the April Blog Tour.

Why go on Blog Tours?

Apparently there are a number of us who not only blog on ActiveRain, but maintain other real estate blogs out there in the 'real world.'  My other blog is called miOaklandCounty.com.  miOaklandCounty.com had its second birthday in March.  In the world of real estate blogging that makes me a nearly eligible for a pension or something.  But I have often said that the first 18 or so months were pretty darn crappy.  I was blogging on blogger.com and I wasn't connecting to the other real estate bloggers out there.  My content was boring even to me.  So I was fizzling.

Then along came ActiveRain.  Maureen McCabe invited me and I found a lot of other people talking about things I wanted to talk about.  Real estate to be specific.  Now, 6 months later, I have a much better handle on where I want my blogging to go and how it will help me and my business.

I've learned so much from my fellow bloggers.  Thank you for helping me to hone this skill set.  The blog tour gives me new inspiration every month.  This month I hope we will see some new members joining us.

Who goes on Blog Tours?

Everyone is welcome to read the blogs that will be on this months blog tour.  You do not have to have an outside blog.  These blogs will inspire new ideas on everything from formatting and platforms to content and commentary.

Here are some posts you can look back on if you are curious about what has taken place in the past.  But, really, its quite simple.  The benefits to the participants are that we often give each other feedback on site issues and you create incoming links to your own site every time you leave a comment.  I also usually pick up some new ideas for future posts.

Here is how it works:

  • Put a link in the comments here with your 'other' blog's URL.
  • If you have a post that you think we would particularly enjoy, use that as the landing page.  But the main page is just fine too.
  • Please only add one outside blog.  Save the others for next month. (New the month)
  • If you post your own blog here, I ask you to visit at least the two other blogs that sign up immediately before you.   Of course, you are welcome to visit more.
  • If you add your blog early in the comments, you'll want to stop back later  to check out the new  additions.
  • When you are out visiting, leave a comment to let them know you stopped by.
  • Optional: You might consider adding someone to your blogroll.  If you don't have an outside blog, you could add them to your "favorites" on your blog settings or as an associate.

We are not judging or competing here.  This is just a chance to get out and see what our peers are doing.  New members, even if you don't have another blog, go take a look around.

Join us before April 28th to take place in the fun!

If you find out anything interesting while you are out there, report back here and let the rest of us know so that we don't miss it...

If you want to make sure you don't miss future blog tours, join blog tourists. If you are a real estate professional and you are not a member of ActiveRain, you should sign up here.  It is FREE and it will change the way you do business.

This month I will be adding all of the blogs that participate in the tour to this post so that I can give you all a little bit of google juice, since AR comments are not indexed.

Hi Maureen - If I can get my new blog up and sort of running before the deadline, I will post it here, otherwise I'll just join in next month.  I enjoy visiting other's blogs to see what's going on that people are working on.

Thanks for putting this together again,
Ann

What a great idea! I feel like a buyer looking at homes. Check out one of my blogs, Minneapolis Luxury Real Estate.  High incomes not needed.

Wow, these blogs look great and the content is fantastic.

I have a question...

What services are you using to blog?  What are the costs/benefits of the services you are using?

I ask because I am in the process of starting my own blog and I have not decided what service to use.

Thanks in advance for the input.

I always enjoy being a blog tourist.  In fact, Friday nites are my blog tour nite.  I'm usually crashing from a busy week and find traveling the internet to be relaxing.  Thanks for being our travel agent Maureen.

My blog is the Eastern CT Real Estate Blog.

I'm on the tour, sounds like fun. I'll start right now by visiting the blogs of the 2 before me. Great idea, I'm sorta all over the place and tend to visit the same ones.

I am slowly finding my voice. I need to do more blogging but have not been able to get on here. I've been so busy, unfortunately not with real estate.

Great idea, Maureen, and a great tour.

Visit my blog.ssimms.com which I only started recently.

I already have the blogs of Linda Davis and Jonathan Greene on my google reader, so I read and commented on those of Mariana Wagner and Teri Lussier. It's all about expanding our horizons, isn't it?

I will visit a bunch of the blogs, I visted Mariana's.

Felicity I am working on a project about different blog plaforms for my board and I will forward you the info, but it may be a couple of weeks.    Lots of research.  Also there is a discussion about blog platforms that Herb Hamiliton started here on his blog about a week ago... title is something like Bloggity, Blog Blog Blog... you'll know it when you see it.  There's a blog post about three of the blog platforms for real estate on Bill French's blog... back before Christmas.

Thanks for doing the blog tour again MF.

Thanks for the mention; it was really enlightening seeing what Rainers were doing outside the Rain last month. I'm still in development on a couple of new blogs, but I promise I'll be ready for a 4th of July barbecue!

Hi Missy,

That would be RSSpieces.com, Mary & John McKnight.  The SEO on the web-blog is fabulous.  I am already at the top of the engines for a lot of the long tail, not for the major search terms yet, that will happen soon though.  Their service is great and very reasonable.

Maureen, I have gone to just about everyones outside blog...great blogs out there. This is always such a fabulous thing you do to not only get feedback but also for each of us to see what others are doing outside of AR

Not sure that some folks understand that reprociity is in order here. Perhaps, when you update this blog and put my link to http://www.SacramentoRealEstateVoice.com  as well as some others, you might want to consider reminding those that are showcasing and receiving comments to also go and view and comment on each other.  Just a suggestion... :)
