First Time Buyer in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland?

What do you do first?  Select a Realtor - someone who will help guide you through the entire process step-by-step.

Next: Speak with a Loan Officer; your Realtor can help you with selecting one or you can do it on your own.  My advice is to pick someone local.  You'll have to decide how much you plan on for a down payment and what kind of monthly payment you'd be comfortable with.  Based on your circumstances, your Loan Officer will tell you what your best options are for purchasing a home. They'll also check your credit and tell you what you qualify for.

Then it's time to decide exactly what kind of home you'd like to have and begin looking.  It would be best to decide which area you'd like to be in, how many bedrooms, baths, etc..  Your realtor can then start searching for homes that meet your criteria and submit them to you for your review and possible showings.

Once you find one you like, we submit the offer.  You'll have to decide a number of thing at this point such as:  Do you want an inspection?, Do you want to ask for closing cost help? A warranty?, Settlement date preferred?, etc., etc. Your Realtor will guide you through all this.

You'll need to decide how much you're willing to pay for the house in case your offer is countered by the seller.  After an agreement is reached and all parties sign - we have a ratified contract.
