One of my favorite Tennessee hiking destinations for me and my furry kid (Merlot) is Burgess Falls state park located in Sparta, TN.

As the park is only a short drive this is a monthly hiking adventure that always seems to have something new to experience with each season. The main waterfall lined trail is 1.5 miles which includes several area's to stop and take in bluffs, streams, soaring birds, wooden bridges, rock formations and all the splendid surrounding nature.

When in Tennessee or if you are a resident - I highly recommend Burgess Falls State Park. Burgess Falls location and further information.

(Merlot obviously wanted to play in the water instead of pose for another photo!)

What a beautiful place.  Like your dog too!!!   We don't really have a fall here in Southern California....Just evergreens so I really enjoy photos like this.

Hi Christina,

Is that your dog? I wish we had scenic routes like that around here! All concrete, construction and freeways. :(

Christina,

Thanks for the post. I could use a retreat right about now. Time to get away and perfect that business plan for 2009. This looks just like the place.
