Ten Things to Do While Waiting to Vote....

By
Real Estate Agent with AgentOwned Realty, Heritage Group, Inc.

I have heard on the national news the absentee voting lines are long and they expect Tuesday poll lines to be just as long.  With this in mind, I have come up with a list of productive things to do while standing in line.....

1.   Bring along your sample ballot and make sure you have it completed and don't need to make any changes.  The people behind you in line will appreciate it!  I went to www.vote-SC.org and from there you can print a sample ballot for many states.

2.  Bring along the instruction manual for your cell phone or smart phone and finally figure that thing out for once.  I know real excitement, but you will be a captivated audience.

3.  Schedule your next two months of blog entries (or the entire year of 2009).  Hey the Holidays are coming up and there is plenty of events to blog about.  Linday Pendleton has a great list of 271 Blogging Ideas to help you.

4.  Start your 2009 Business Plan.  There are many great resources for ideas of what to include and all are available free here on ActiveRain or Realtor.org.  Print out the blogs or articles and read as you are standing in line.

5.  Wear your name tag and talk about how local the real estate market really is.

6.  Start to address your holiday greeting cards.  It is also a great time to go through your holiday greeting card list and add or subtract names.

7.   Relax and bring along a good pleasure reading book.  So maybe you don't want to be productive for work, but there is that novel you wanted to catch up on.

8.  Grab a bunch of Realtor Magazines to catch up.

9.  Grab a pad of paper (I know it is just wrong with us computer people) and write a blog or two or three while standing in line.

10.  Make a list of people in your SOI you haven't contacted in a while.  Call them or write them a note while standing in line.  Look official and carry a clipboard and make people wonder....

I hope everyone is able to get out and vote tomorrow.  We are expecting long lines in SC and I told my husband we need to pack camp chairs so we can sit down if necessary.  But we will be going out to cast our votes and make our voices heard.

Just take some time to plan ahead Monday and you can use the time to help grow your business or personal knowledge and get ready for Wednesday.

Kim, It will be interesting, for sure!  Our budgets and businesses are so strained now, I cannot imagine what more taxes will do to us!  Heating oil and diesel fuel, here in New England is draining us.

Kim, I'll wait to vote, I'm just hoping it's indoors.  In some previous years we've been kept outside and it's cold.  The lines will be exceptionally long, I'm ready!

Kim:  Just HOW LONG do you expect the lines to be?  Now I'm scared!

Not really!  It's well worth it!

Thanks for the info!

Frances-  You are so right about strained budgets.  Seems the elections have slowed our market more than the holidays did last year.  I am hoping once we are past this everything will start moving again.

Carole- I hear you about hoping to wait inside.  We were outside for the first hour then inside for an hour.   I was just ready to sit down for a few minutes.

Mirela-  I planned to wait a couple of hours at least.  We went during the quiet time and our wait was indeed about two hours.  Unfortunately it was drizzling rain so I didn't take any work with me.

Melissa- I need to check out Twitter.  Love the crossed eyed picture!  I was in line for about two hours and could have used something to keep my busy.
