Our biggest job last winter was a townhome that wasn't winterized properly and the agent had lowered the heat to 50 degrees.  The pipes burst in the upper level bathroom.  The water flowed down the stairs, thru the living room and out the front door.  2 Bathrooms and the kitchen were completely destroyed along with the drywall, paint and carpeting thruout the house.  The agent hadn't checked the property in over two weeks so the water had been running for quite some time.

Just a little heads up to everyone!  We recommend winterizing the property, keep the heat set at 62 and make sure you check on the properties at a minimum of once a week.

Good luck and keep warm

I had a similar issue last winter - the seller neglected to winterize and oh, boy, there was a heck of a waterfall when I walked in...

It was gross.  The damage was rather amazing.

Betty, great advice, it looks like winter may be on it's way this week in our area, so it is a good reminder.
