I've very happy with my trees, I have felt my neighbors house during the summer that doesn't have any, but I can't imagine planting them now if I didn't have any. It would take 20 years for them to become shade trees.

Is there a way to speed that up?

Hey Todd:  I came across the following article about trees http://www.marthastewart.com/article/fast-growing-trees.  It appears as though one factor in determining the speed of growth is the type of trees you plant.
