You will probably think this is really corney !

I spent many hours studying the issues, watching the debates and listening to the candidates and the analysis offered by experienced talking heads !  Then I learned that I was to be the site manager for the Fort Myers Beach sand sculpting event riunning Nov 4 - 9 !   So, last weekend I decided I would vote early !  The voting place was very well organized, well staffed and efficiently run.  The entire process took just over an hour.  It was interesting to watch all of the other early voters.

As I waited my turn I really felt like this was democracy at its' finest !  Ordinary citizens gathered to exercise their most cherished right !  Voting their conscience ! Voting for McCain or Obama to lead this great country through some very difficult times ahead of us.  I felt very honored to be part of this process and to be a citizen of this great country.  Yes, it sounds kind of corney to talk about such a simple act this way until you remember that we too often take it for granted !  So call me corney already !  I voted and I hope you will too !

Bill,

You bet I'll vote and I hope to stand in a long line to do so.  We expect a very extensive voter turn out here in Wisconsin.  The temps are suppose to be in the 70's so weather won't be a factor unless people don't vote because it's too nice.

Thanks for being corny.

Take care.

Bill, I, too, voted early so I could be a poll watcher on Tuesday.  And it was really fun.  People were talking and joking.  Everything was very well organized, and the very long line moved quickly.  Have fun tomorrow!

California has "permanent mail voters," which I've been for the past 10 years. Prior to that I was an "absentee" voter. I stood in line for hours in 1980 for my very first election and swore never again. I would be willing to skip voting since I was only one vote. Fortunately, though, I discovered absentee and mail voting. Much better. Mail ballots arrive 3-4 weeks before the election, and I usually have mine back to them about 2-3 weeks before the election. The I can sit at home and watch the news about the long lines -- LOL.
