I have not been there in years, but I LOVE that area. It is like stepping back in time...but without giving up any of our modern luxuries. GBU, my friend!

Hi Cynthia,  This is such a charming post!  Right now in Florida it is almost like springtime, no humidity and the temperatures is mid 70's.  It is hard to get into the holiday spirit.

I've heard stories of candle-lit streets but I've never actually seen such a thing... sounds very fun!

Sounds FUN!  We do something very similar in Farmville.  It is my favorite thing.

That sounds lovely!  What a great way to get into the holiday spirit!  Beats a noisy, crowded, neon filled mall any day!

I love to read you posts..anyone moving to your area is lucky to have you as a resource!  Nice job!

Cynthia  That must take a lot of effort to plan such an event - I'll bet it will be a real photographic opportunity for you,  Karen

Cynthia, This would be a fun way to start the holidays.  I have never attended this before but sounds like a lot of fun and I know the shops are unique in Swansboro.

Hi Elizabeth,
I hope you can get back to Swansboro soon and enjoy the beautiful waterfront shops and restaurants.

Hello Barbara,
70 degrees and no humidity does not sound like a bad thing--but certainly no conducive to holiday spirits.

Chuck,
It is so beautiful and entertaining as well, you'd enjoy it for sure.

Hi Carole,
I haven't done any Christmas shopping either but then I never finish up early.

Hi Don,
We're planning on going, probably will not do much shopping with the little one along but do enjoy just walking around and taking in the sites, smells and sounds.

Hello Katie,
I didn't know Farmville had something similiar--enjoy!

Pat,
Wish you could come, you would really enjoy it.

Hi Barbara H.
It is sooo much more charming and inspiring than the mall and shopping locally is more important than ever this year.  Thanks.

Karen,
I think the planners have it down to a science--they have been doing it for several years and it goes so very smoothly.  (Well from the outside looking in.  LOL)

Hello Vickie,
Maybe you can plan to head on over to Swansboro Saturday night and take in the sights, smells and sounds.

Hello Gita,
I know it is early but time goes so quickly.  If this does not get one into the spirit, well--just they are just hopeless!  LOL.

Charles,
And when I see you walking down the street, I will say "hello Charles, my friend from Charlottesville".

Hi Sonja,
For sure, we are.  Our historic downtowns are very special and I agree with you about supporting these merchants.

What a cute looking place!!! I love places like this, and need to "find" more of them. I guess I need to get outside the city more! LOL!

I can't believe we are seeing Christmas stuff already (like ads on TV.....good grief!) But, I suspect the retailers are going to try and do what they can to keep themselves in the black and not red this season!

Margaret,
I have done one early way back that included the history of Swansboro--maybe I'll do another one soon.  Thanks.

Thom & Ray,
Swansboro is a small, charming village by the sea with wonderful shops and restaurants.  Yes, you need to get out of the big city and experience small town charm.  :-)

I think you are right about retailers--it could be a challenge this year.

Hi Judy,
Isn't it though!  I much prefer the small boutiques and shops to the chain stores and shopping with local merchants keeps our money at home!
