I can't stand it any more.  I have to ask the question.  Early in the morning as you log on to your computer and get ready to read your emails (or Active Rain Blogs), does anyone else out there notice their reflection in the computer screen and really wish you didn't have to look at it????

My computer may be extra slow right now...so I get the ...shall we say...the pleasure...of viewing myself, no makeup, before my cup of tea, hair usually not even brushed looking back at me on an otherwise black screen.  Now let me tell you it is NOT a pretty picture.  Could be the lighting in the room doesn't help, but those lines running down the corners of my mouth, I look at least 20 years older than later in the day.

I cannot help but notice it and think about how the aging process seems to have accelerated in recent years, even months. (Which Dr Phil confirmed on a show last week...after fifty the affects of aging are much more apparent on the outside...I guess I had been aging under the skin for years and it's just now really popping out there like one of those big pimples in my teenage years...I guess I am now bearing the fruits of my sun loving younger days.)

I just wondered if anyone else has had this dialog with themselves on occasion.

Don't get me wrong...it beats the alternative and I am blessed with good health and a great family....I just needed to vent.

Hey Cheryl,

When I saw your response I thought...duh, i could turn on computer on and THEN go get my tea rather than the reverse.  Problem solved.

Then I went to respond with a big smile on my face I might add...and my background is a dark green and my computer seems to be running overly slow...and when it goes to change screens I have the joy of looking at myself in a dark green screen...thinkwicked witch of the west the wicked witch of the west...

I pulled the photo from previous post...actually the green matches the color of my face as my screen is changing perfectly!!!

Go figure.  Well ya gotta love getting older...and you definitely have to keep your sense of humor.  So the smile is still there...albeit with a few more lines than i'd like.

Have a great one.

Are you kidding? That picture on the side must be your daughter then! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thank you!!!!!!!!  However though that photo was only a few months ago I have since aged and the lighting was great.  I have become a big fan of lighting by the way.

thanks again and have a great day!

Hi Celeste, Hey, it's not the computer screen, it's my mirror that I am not lovin. Now, I KNOW you are being too hard on yourself, you are still looking good ! God bless,

Hi Celeste-You just have to think of the alternative and then all the lines and wrinkles aren't as important. You're a pretty lady, don't worry about a few lines and wrinkles. They come with wisdom even if that means wisdom about the effects of too much sun. Take care

Celeste---I have a solution for you (although for the record----you don't need one) get a flat screen----no reflection:)

Ellie,

thanks for that...made my day...but as well do I have good days and bad days.  I spent three days outside doing a short film (a recent hobby of mine)  Let me tell you there were some bad days when i looked in the mirror after a day of being outdoors.   but again it beats the alternative and I feel great!

Hey charles...didnt' realize a flat screen has no reflection.  I will add that to my 'wish' list and when the market picks up again (as it will hopefully sooner vs later) the next monitor I get will be a flat screen.  I always liked them any way but now I have more of a reason to get one...thanks!

Yes I read most of the skin damage is caused by sun we got as kids.  That's a bummer as I was always in the sun living out in the country.

oh well live and learn.  Hopefully my daughters will grow up learning the lesson, just as i grew up being told, finally, that smoking wasn't healthy for you.  Mom said she didn't have a clue that it was bad for your health so never worried about it.

live and learn....(and thanks for the pretty lady comment...always nice to hear)

I know exactly what you mean, my friend.  The person I present to the world is not the same person who I see first thing in the morning!  That person is a mess!

Susan...Exactly...have you noticed that as the years go by the difference between the two seems to be widening... you have got to keep your sense of humor about.

did you ever wonder how hard it must be for woman in hollywood etc who really have lived on their looks...that must be really hard for them.

Several years ago an acquaintance was telling a "ghost story" of having come to the top of the stairs in the house she grew up in, and there, in front of her stood the ghost of her mother.  When she flipped on the light, she saw that there was a full-length mirror a few feet down the hall.  =o)

On another note, I have in-law family in Wimberley, very pretty area you live in!

Cheryl,

sorry for the delay in responding.  Actually i thought I did respond to this as I remember the story well and got a chuckle out of it.  I wondered if she was 'afraid' when she saw the ghost or if she thought it was cool.  I remember watching the original poltergeist years ago and how the mom thought it was neat initially to have the energies.  I've always wanted to see a spirit/ghost whatever but I've always added that I don't want it to be in a scary way.   I like watching shows like john edwards...i was visiting my mom this past weekend (which is why all of this is on my brain I guess) she is in late eighties and in failing health.  She mentioned that she really feels my dad's presence (he died 20 years ago).  I wanted to ask her to make an additional effort to show one of us a 'sign' but somehow it didn't seem appropriate so I didn't, though she definitely believes in the energy.  So i guess we're all hoping we'll get the confirmation we'd love to have.

but anyway thought your story was cute.

and yes wimberley is a really pretty area.  Most people think it's 'too far' to commute if they work in Austin though as there isn't a direct route to town.  Which is great for those living there that don't need to drive into Austin because it will keep it from getting swallowed up by all of the new construction.

yell if you ever come to the area to visit...would be nice to put a face to an AR person.

Do you remember bursting those bubbles in wrapping paper? I used to love sitting there doing it. So came across this widget and decided that others might remember enjoying it as well. So if you feel like you want to scream...have at it. Pop a few bubbles in me! Makes me smile everytime!
