Yes after living here for almost 19 years this will be the first presidential election in which we can both vote since becoming citizens. Now rather than being bystanders we are participants. I cannot understand those who feel they are not part of the process and refuse to vote allowing others to determine their future without a say.

As we have seen in the past few elections every vote counts and it is important to cast your vote even if you believe the election is already determined because until the votes are counted the result is not known for sure.

So with pride, both Trudy and I voted today and we hope you took the opportunity to cast your vote, if not you still have some time as it is only 3.30 and you can still vote today till 8 pm.

Congrats - it amazes me how many people do not go and vote. I consider it my permission slip to complain if thing go wrong. At least I took an active role!

gratz!  SUch an odd, heated election to jump into first!  Glad you did your DEMOCRATIC DUTY...without people turning out to vote a DEMOCRACY means little.

Congratulations on your 1st of many voting experiences! I have always believed if you don't vote, you can't engage in political conversation. Since I like having a say and participating in conversation, I have always voted. I think the most important part of this election is what we as AMERICANS do after it's over to make sure our elected officials do what we need them to. Communication from the populous up is esential!

Trudy was so keen she was lining up as the polls opened this morning. Her only problem was finding somewhere to park. I went a little later but it was no better, very large turnout, people were saying they have never seen so many people voting in our precinct. I would not consider not voting, as many of you said it is a democratic duty. With a son who has fought overseas for others to have the right to a democracy how can you not vote.

Wow!  Sounds like you have just become a U.S. citizen...Congratulations and welcome!  You have lawfully achieved and realized what countless citizens around the world have only dreamed about.  My hat's off to you and congratulations on your first vote!  I wish that all Americans recognized (as you do) that their ability to vote is truly a privilege.  You have my sincere best wishes!

Welcome to the Great Experiment! It is said that Democracy is the worst form of government...except for all the rest. I encourage you to make this the first of many elections in which you join all citizens of our nation and reaffirm our commitment to Democracy.
