Hats Off to those Poll Workers!

Reblogger Don Rogers
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Chesterfield

After working the polls for a number of years I can appreciate Laura for saying thank you to all of the poll workers out there.  There are times that things do not go very well and people will get upset, especially when they want to be heard.  This election is no exception, so if you haven't voted yet don't forget to say thank you to the poll worker that helps you out.

Thank you Laura for the reminder.

I pulled into my polling place, VERY excited, ready to exercise my right to vote.  In this historical election, what a great opportunity to participate in one of our simple, yet very important, freedoms.

From the time I pulled in, to my registration, through my voting and my departure, I was greeted with smiles, thank you's, that all-important I Voted sticker, and happy workers.  You know they were there well before the polls opened at 6 AM, and there they will remain until well after they close this evening at 7 PM.  Yet there they were, smiling, greeting us, giving directions, and thanking us for being there.

THANK YOU, to those who campaigned, distributed flyers, helped register voters, and worked the polls.  No matter what party or candidate you were working for, you did a great job and made my experience easy and fun.

Thanks to the Poll Workers, I got out the vote today - DID YOU?

You and Laura are so right.  I also have to say the members of the media who bring us the results deserve our applause too.  I know they have a bad rap for being biased, only reporting bad news, etc.  But when I worked in television, election day was always one of the longest days of the year.  We got to work early and didn't leave until there was a winner- in every race!!!  (Usually well into the following morning- then we'd go home sleep for a couple hours and go back and do it all again).

So tonight, when you're watching CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX or CNN getting all your results think of the people behind the scenes making it all happen!!!

I would have to give a hat's off to them also, I thought I was going to go nuts just standing in line, much less being there the whole time.

JL,

They are the backbone to the whole process and the ones that will carry all of the blame when something goes wrong.

Midori,

The poll workers do a very good job and today they will have to be on top of their game all day.
