My Election Day Thoughts

By

Today is one of the most important days on the calendar.

Once every year, we as Americans, get to voice our opinions by voting.  We have the right to choose who will govern us.  This is something that should not be taken lightly.

This year is a bit special.  It is on this every fourth election day that we chose the most powerful man in the world.  Our nation, and our world, is facing challenges unlike those we have ever seen before.

We are about to make history by voting in the first African American President, or by choosing the first female Vice-President.  Either way, we are taking a big step forward toward equality for all.

Though I look forward to our country being given new direction, and hopefully the confidence needed to pull out of these tough economic times, I'm also looking forward to the end of the political ads.

With that said, the best part of this election is that a record number of Americans are hitting the polls to make a difference.  Regardless of political preferences, I hope we do not take this freedom for granted.  I hope that all those who vote today for the first time feel they are making a difference and will continue to vote year after year.

Be proud to be an American.

Karl,

I think the best part of this election is that is soon to be over - barring challenges. :)

Unbelievable...at 1:00pm this afternoon, I was number 685, my husband just voted and he was 874. They told me my town was steady all day. My husband couldnt find a parking space.

I'm staying up tonight to see the results. Virginia comes in at 7pm...which is an important state.

Thanks to each of you for your comments, but more importantly, thank you for exercising your right to vote.
