Hanging Out In Your Lucky Bathtub

By

Lucky BathtubWith many people finding in buying houses these days that the lenders are offering up tougher requirements to get that home loan, I see them throwing their hands up saying they are just not lucky I guess.

The idea of whether luck exists or not has always fascinated me. I think luck is a human conclusion on an observation of life and doing a judgment call. I also think you have your best chance for good luck when your preparation meets an opportunity presented to you. Kind of like a well prepared football team being able to win the Super Bowl.

But if you delve deeper into the whining of people and the age old question of why sometimes bad things happen to good people, the answer is to stop asking that question. There is no definite answer, although there is probably a reason in the Cosmos beyond our reasoning ability.

Life seems neither fair nor unfair. If you live long enough you will have your share of each. Life is incredibly neutral actually. What you need to do is get good at

Hanging Out In Your Lucky Bathtub.

What I mean by that is think of your circumstances many times as like a roll of the dice.

Two dice. Twelve possible numbers. Say seven and eleven are your hot, winning numbers. Your ecstatic times. Your times when you hit the jackpot. Great romances. Great sold or purchased houses. Wine, women, and song. Other numbers rolled might be heartache, distress, headaches, financial hardship, illness, cancer scares, hurts and pains. Some other middle numbers might be ho hum days. Nothing really bad but not those ecstatic days.

The trick with hanging out in your lucky bathtub is despite whatever the dice rolls for you for the day, for the month, for the year, your "reaction" to life's events is what matters most. Not the circumstance itself. You can be lucky EVERY day "handling" what you rolled. Maybe you have to put less chips on the table the next time you roll to be more conservative. Maybe you have a hot streak and more chips go on your bet because you are most confident and your plans are working.

Just remember in your bathtub, enjoy the warm water that is your light inside. No roll of the dice can take that away from you. Laugh at the bad dice you rolled and come back with a smile to take another roll. Share and celebrate with others when the dice come up good for you. But above all believe you are lucky EVERY day you get to splash around in your little bathtub. It means you're still in the game.

Susan: Lucky bathtubs, lucky bathrobes to get lucky? I think I am going to start a side business and promote this stuff on eBay.

Neal: Hot tubs. Now there's a place to get lucky!!  : )

Pat: Susan's devious ways are wearing off on you. I'll have to try and keep you two apart. Good luck on that task. I visited William's blog. Thanks.

Susan: Why do I envision your happy place as early morning with your tea with JJ out by the pool and the garden? I'm coming over. That's a great happy place.

Pat: See, thanks to Susan you've turned into a hooligan. And you used to be so sweet. Until Susan came along you probably never heard of the word hijack.

Myrl: Now that the economy has tanked he could probably use a rubbery ducky and just stay there turning into a prune.

Gary, that is definitely one of my happy places.  Now, anyplace there is a book and my dog will do!  Also, my friends.  Here, on AR and my everyday flesh and blood friends that I can see and hug.   My mom, my sons, my nieces and nephews, my cat.  I am a lucky woman.  So I don't get lucky often, but it's a trade-off I have decided to make.  Oops.  Too much information!  Lol!

Pat, I think I may have been the very first person to hijack Gary's posts.  You see, the unwritten rule around here is that you should only hijack member's only posts.  But Gary leaves the member's only posts to me and only post a few, and only recently at that.  Sometimes, you just gotta go crazy and so, since crazy is something I happen to know something about, well...  Thankfully, once in a while, when I cross the line of good taste, someone discretely emails me and I delete the comment.  Yep,  that's happened!  More than once I am sad to say.

Pat: I never get away with anything with your memory. You can work in one of those courtrooms WITHOUT those recorder machines. Boy you are good. But you are still sweet. If you hang around Susan too closely you will get the hooligan tag. It's a given.

Susan: Now I know ALL your great happy places including here which I am glad to hear. Getting lucky Susan? What about those West Chester buff firefighters that made that calendar that you invited over to check you smoke alarms when no one else was home? Oops, sorry the world wide web wasn't supposed to know about that one. Slip of the tongue on my part. Never happened. Just my imagination.

Liz: Those cucumbers are precious!! : )

Susan: The master hijacker along with Mel, Amanda, Paul, Jesse, Lisa, and your other compadres.

ZEN:  A school of Mahayana Buddhism that asserts that enlightenment can be attained through meditation and self-contemplation.

ZEN:  A Japanese Buddhist sect that teaches that one can obtain Enlightenment by intuition achieved directly through meditation.

ZEN:  A school of Mahāyāna Buddhism notable for its emphasis on mindful acceptance of the present moment, spontaneous action, and letting go of self-conscious, judgmental thinking.

....and my favorite

ZEN:  Meditative absorption in which all dualistic distinctions are eliminated.

Gail, I've seen many definitions for Namaste.  The nicest one is "I honor the Spirit in you, that is also in me".   I've seen that it can be used as a greeting or as a thank you but I love the honoring one.

Carol Culkin: A bath is a great place to relax.

Arina: You are always a winner with me. That Halloween contest sounded like tremendous fun. Wow, another romantic bathtub person out there. There are quite a few in this crowd.

Gita: ALWAYS stay in the game, not matter what. You CANNOT fail if you are in the game.

Gail: I am now trained in Zen. This is so cool. Didn't know all the varieties.

Susan: I like that honor theme.

Pat: The way it goes with newer relationships and commenters who haven't been around here for months like Susan has, I try to keep you pure and innocent as long as I can. But sooner or later corruption sets in, everyone becomes a hooligan, and it is beyond my control what happens in the tub. I just offer a little saneness to the mix, don't want you to get overwhelmed by the craziness aspect of this place, but it is obvious you are a natural troublemaker already so maybe I should be warning Susan about YOU!! Truthfully, I learn and have more fun with the reading than I do with the writing. I just host these therapy sessions Pat. Where they go and what happens from setting the stage I am convinced is COMPLETELY out of my control. I am going to call Gail the Zenmaster cause she knows way more about it than me. And as far as returning commenters commenting between each other, you will see that "hijack" mode even on the Public posts. As long as they keep it clean here, it's all in good fun. Now read the Members Only posts, and that's where they let their hair down another notch. See Pat, now I am turning into you with a long comment. Troublemaker ; )

Oh Gary - Now just what are you going to do about this??? ;-) Please know I'm truly an innocent bystander...even though my curiosity abounds. Who is this Pat and this Susan that have so ZENfully gravitated to your inspirational blog. You've never known me to wreak mischief ~ anywhere that you know of at least....ahem...if this keeps up you'll have to go members only...oh well...must be post-election liberation.

GIRLS - BEHAVE!!!  There now Gary, did that help?  Susan I'll be checking up on you :-)  Pat get some rest :-)  Oh, and BTW I'm ROTFLMAO, it's getting really fun around here!!!  Who knew serious could be like this...happy-happy-happy-me!

Gail: Susan Mangigian claims she is at her most peaceful state in one of her many "happy places" but I think that is just her energy source in the morning to rev her up to unleash her humor on the rest of us throughout the day. Trust me if she touches you with her magic wand of joy you are truly blessed. Now Pat Preston, a newcomer to my lilly pad is just the Energizer bunny with all her goodness. If she has found you recently hold on for the ride. All good people like yourself Gail!! BTW, the "Queen" of Members Only posts (other than Broker Bryant's lovely TLW) is Susan.

Gary & Pat - There's no other way to put it, yep..it's the Gary and Pat Show, or perhaps...the Pat and Gary Show.  Hey - Old Time Rock and Roll is one of my favorite tunes, in fact Rock and Roll is my favorite music.  Oh and don't let appearances fool you, or words for that matter...I'm a child of the 70's...I think that speaks for itself :-)  Problem is, I'm always trying to behave myself!

Sharon, don't ask...just jump in ;-)

Pat: I think the lack of sleep has you on a roll with this one. Thanks for finding all the videos as we splash away in the tub : )

Sharon: Splash away. I think it turned into a hot tub.

Gail: The Gary and Pat show - that is funny. Pat comes up with some interesting videos.

Shelton: Good point. Our reaction is the key.
