Yesterday, I wrote a post in which I expressed my disappointment with the outcome of the election.  My chief concern was that people voted based on emotions and not based on issues.  Although I didn't mention it in my posts, one of the main concerns for me was the issue of National Security, and I thought that John McCain was better qualified infinitely more qualified to keep our country safe.

Someone left an interesting comment, and while my intention is not to single someone out, I think this person echoes the sentiments of many others who voted for Barack Obama and perhaps this thinking swayed their vote to his side.

"Al Qaeda would have loved to have McCain get in.  With Obama being elected... all the terrorist's recruiting programs are now "out the window."  If you wanted the end times to come... then McCain would make sense.  With Obama in... we have taken away their target... meaning their excuse to label the US as a threat.  Now with Obama not pursuing the policy of taking a pre-emptive strike... Now they have nothing to use as an excuse for recruiting new members."

The comment above represents exactly what our enemies wanted us to believe before the election, that radical terrorists viewed the US under an Obama administration as somehow less of a threat than under McCain, and that they would abandon their pursuits against US interests, were Obama to be elected.  What are they saying today?

In an editorial, the Iranian daily Jomhouri-ye Eslami stated: "The most that that black man can do in the White House is to replace some of the staff and change some ceremonial procedures. He will never manage to change the structure of the American regime, which was established by capitalists, Zionists, and racists."

The paper added that President Obama would not bring change to the world, because both the Democrats and Republicans were party to the U.S.'s oppressive and interest-driven foreign policy. Therefore, it said, any changes that do occur would be tactical rather than strategic."

From The Saudi daily Al-Watan stated in an editorial: "There is no significant difference between Obama and McCain. They disagree only on the means to achieve America's chief goal, which is to rule for another hundred years."

From Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi : "Whoever thinks that the Democrats are less hostile to [the Arabs] than the Republicans should know that the number of Iraqis killed during the siege [of Iraq] by the Democrat Bill Clinton is twice as high as the number of [Iraqis] killed by the Republican [George] Bush."

Clearly some of us have been duped into voting for a candidate with no military or foreign relations experience, someone who was not the candidate of choice for somewhere around 75% of people in the military, under the pretense that our enemies would just leave us alone and we'd all be friends. Tsk, tsk. Didn't your mother teach you never to trust a terrorist?  If the Arab world doesn't believe that "Change Is Coming", then why in the world should we???

The terrorists will find any reason to continue attacking and disrupting. That's what they like to do. McCain had experience as a soldier but neither he nor Obama has experience as President of the United State. Fortunately, our President is surrounded with advisors who have experience in their area including the Chiefs of Staff.

Wow. This was extremely troubling to see but not shocking by any means. Osama Bin Laden has proven himself as a known manipulator of the media using US events as a means to promote his messages. What's truly apparent to anyone with a brain is that talking to these kinds of leaders does nothing but reinoforce their ideological ideas. They hate us and waht we stand for no matter who's at the helm. We need to stop giving aid to so many of these countries and let them starve themselves out. Perhaps then they'll appreciate us more for what we were doing for them all these years so selflessly.

As maria mentioned Al qaeda will come up with excuses from now till the earth blows up to validate their attacks on us and others. They want the world to live LIKE THEM. Perhaps someone should ask the women in that part of the world if they're happy wearing a cloth over their body all day long. oh wait, we already did that only to find out that they executed those same people for speaking the truth.

This is the leadership in the U.N that is lacking. Whether or not they wanted to work with Bush, they need to stop coming up with their own excuses as to why they allow terrorist organizations from running this world's economy. Even now with the world influx because of america's woes, they don't seem to undertand how everything is connected. If they think our downfall helps them then they are sadly mistaken. Our downfall will cause cataclysmic affects worldwide.

I just hope Obama won't be swayed by his constituants to back down from terrorism. Guys like Michael moore should have been locked in prison for treason. It doesn't matter what his political affiliation is. His actions manipulate people into a false sense of doing justice. There's no justice in working against any political party in this country simply because you don't agree with them.  While i'm an independent, it disturbs me greatly to hear both sides now saying they'll work together.

WHAT HAPPENENED TO WORKING TOGETHER IN THE PAST 8 YEARS? ONE MAN CAUSED YOU TO NOT WANT TO WORK TOGETHER? REALLY THA'TS THE EXCUSE? it's just downright disturbing and childish to hear it.

Your article is excellent in every way. It showcases the hippocricy of others. Their words in hindsight was simply propaganda, much like everything in the media these days is. The fact that there was no talk of an independent candidate once in the past month shows that money will continue to decide who runs this country.

Great post! I think all the "kool-aid" drinkers are in for a rude awakening!  I am not sure that they will even be aware of it as it unfolds...as Bill Clinton stated the other day "Obama called all the"top dogs" during the bailout crisis and asked what stand should he take and he would "sell it" to the people...who has done the "hoodwinking" and "bamboozling"?

I saw a video by Ronald Regan here on Active Rain, where he said, that the Democrats would appease our enemies, (at the time, I am not sure if he was talking about Russia, but I suspect) If our enemies are rooting for one person over another....what does that say?

Michelle:

I fear that Biden's prediction of a test will come true.

In response to your question about working together for the past eight years... it was always made quite clear that Bush's idea of "working together" simply meant "doing things his way."  That is not working together.  Working together is about coming to a common solution that makes the most sense, and works the best... and then all parties involved in that decision work together in its implementation.

Michelle,

That comment you quoted was so crazy, I can hardly believe someone would think that!  And that is why I feel we will be attacked again!  This is what they have been hoping for!  They have always hated us and they always will, 'till the end of time!  Wake up people!

Thanks for showing me another example of stupidity at it's finest.

Maria - The difference between McCain and Obama is that McCain understands military operations and foreign policy.  Yes, I know that it comes down to having good advisors, but you also have to be willing to listen.   Some of what I heard Obama says leads me to think that he believes he can play peace keeper when clearly no one can.

Castellum - I think you are right about needing a 3rd party candidate.   And I know you are right about the media.   I thought I'd stop writing about politics after the election but the truth of the matter is the msm is going to give Obama a free pass.

Donna - It amazes me how many people he mangaed to "sell' on his ideas.  And who really knows what the real policies are.

Sue - It says a lot.

Titanium - Ugh! I forgot about that but I'll consider the source.

Karen Anne - Considering the quote in the above posts was yours, I'd figure you'd have more to say than to simply bash Bush's idea of working together which wasn't even in response to anything I said.

John - I half posted this hoping that someone would give me a valid reason to think what I posted was not true, and that we are now all safe.  So far no one has.

Michelle- I think the point is we are not safe period, and it would not matter in the least who is President. Terrorists are against Americans in idealogy much in the same extreme ways the Far Right is against the idealogies of the far left in our own country, the only difference being they value death more so than life. So, to them there is no change, and their goal is the same.  I'm an Obama supporter, but not for once do I think that we are any safer with him at the helm than with McCain...in fact early on it was the reason I would not vote for Obama. However, the commenter was un-informed. Obama has made it clear that if Al Qaida is our sight, we will take them out.

One other interesting point to make though: It's obvious our own media in this country can be biased and opinion/agenda driven. Have you taken into account that the media in Arab Nations might be trying to tell their own people that nothing will change...? We should all take what comes out of there with a grain of salt. I think many of the countries who are gun-ho for Obama have listenened a bit much to the Obama hype as well.

Laura - Of course the media in the Arab Nations is biased.  Do you think they have free speech over there?  They are saying that nothing would change as a means of rallying their troops to continue hating us.  Doesn't matter if it is true or not.  As you implied, they won't like us no matter what.

Michelle, you actually believe the opinions of the Arab worlds newspapers?  Or does it just add to the fodder for your blogs?  Now is NOT the time to continue the devisiveness the GOP has promoted in this country, by posting the OPINIONS of some of the Arab newspapers.  BTW, it was Al Qaeda that endorsed McCain, so your arguments dont wash.

I don't think you have to worry about terrorists attacking Secane Pennsylvania.

Terry - You fail to realize that it doesn't matter if what the Arab world states is true or not.  It is what they think.  You are too busy trying to defend Obama as the person to bring change to the world, that you completely missed the point.

Mitchell - I bet that's  what the people in Shanksville, PA thought too.

Again, you too miss the point in rush to defend.  Does it matter if I personally have little to no chance of a terrorists attacking me directly? Am I not affected indirectly by terrorists attacking the country?

Perhaps, I am concerned for my fellow Americans, like I don't know people who live in New York?

Anyone who believes we are safer with Obama in the White House than McCain is truly delusional. Ask yourself this most basic of questions. In High School did the bully target the people who said they wanted to talk or did the bully go after the people he or she knew would kick the living crap out of them?

Michelle, I'm NOT too busy trying to defend Obama, your opinion here.  YOU are too busy trying to dig up as much dirt as you can on him.  It doesnt make a hang what the Arab newspapers opinion's are, what makes a hang is what their governments do when he takes office.
