The SEO Journey Begins

Services for Real Estate Pros with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Philadelphia

It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that i write this, my first blog on Active Rain.  Why such excitement and enthusiasm you ask?  Well, the wonderous task of SEO has now been added to my job description.

I am the office manager for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in Philadelphia.  I have been doing SEO quite a bit for the past few months, getting my feet wet basically, posting to directories and replying to blogs.  I assume that is normal beginner stuff.  Now I am ready to dive in.  I have my SEO Book tools, a consultant (aka a childhood friend with whom I have recently reunited with and who happens to be a proffessional SEO--CHA CHING!), and a pretty firm grasp of what exactly I am supposed to be doing.  Shameless self promotion...of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? that is.

I start this journey, right here on Active Rain.  I am looking at it as a journey much like that Lord of the Rings.  Except, instead of taking the ring to Mordor, I am taking our junk removal site to number one on Google, while making a few friends along the way.  There will be no smelly army of gouls to stand in my way as much as I will have to deal with my computer freezing as well as my fingers in this subzero office-- making it darn near impossible to type!  My consultant, Ashley, is much like Gandolf the Grey, showing me the way to let my inner SEO shine.  And I am Frodo, or Froda because I am female.  I actually like Frida better as that is a real name, so let's go with Frida.  (Coincedentily Frida Khalo is on of my favorite surrealist paintors).  Anyways, I am Frida, the brave soul who only was just learning of her capabilities and talents.  Oh yeah, I also have wide, flat feet too.  Okay, okay, this analogy is a stretch, I know.  But you get the point.

The thing is, I don't just want to get our site to #1 on the Google search (the precious).  I want to know all I can about SEO.  I want this to be something I can put on a resume with confidence.  SO, with all that being said, if you have any suggestions, I am all ears.  Elf ears that is.  ;)

We signed up with a company that entered our info from a standardized page into 27 different search engines, but 1/3 of them I had to go back and edit because standard is not always standard. It cost $30 for a year, and $15 a year thereafter. Easy start. Good Luck.
