If you have a homeowner's policy (or renter's insurance) 10% of your Coverage C - Personal Property is extended to off premises exposure's like a "self- storage" facility. This also applies when your stuff is in your car and it gets broken into. Or your luggage gets lost by the airlines. All typical things we see from our perspective, as the insurance agents. Also remember if you use your self-storage facility for boat storage, ATV storage or snowmobile's, you still need separate insurance for these land conveyance vehicles. They are NOT part of your personal property coverage and do need there own policies to be covered. Whenever in doubt, please call our office.
