US Marines....And Many More..

They have come a long way from the tavern in Philadelphia where the Corps was founded 233 years ago. Beaufort is so proud to be able to join in celebrating such an amazing birthday.

As non-military, my appreciation is from a different perspective, but true just the same.

Dear Marines,

Thank you for waking at 3am so that I can sleep as long as I like.

Thank you for going to scary places so I don't have to go.

Thank you for sacrificing time with your family, so that mine can freely meet.

Thank you for believing in our country even when everyone else does not.

I am so fortunate to live in Beaufort, SC where just across the deep water of the Beaufort River, is a constant reminder of the few, and the proud.

Happy Birthday US Marine Corps!.....and many more.

Good morning Cherimie.  Are you across from a base?  Fort Sumter (sp?) perhaps?

Good Morning Ken,

I am located across the Intracoastal Waterway (aka Beaufort River) from Parris Island Marine Base. Parris Island is actually one of the most beautiful of Sea Islands.

It is definitely a weekend of celebration.

Ooh-rah!

They absolutely deserve our admiration, our respect and our deepest gratitude!

I wish more people realized just how much of their wonderful lives they owe to a soldier. From all of us that do,

Thank you!

Very nice little tribute. And, of course, they have the best theme song in the world -- "From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli...."

Nice post - I so greatly value the military and their sacrifice, to some the ultimate sacrifice. I pray our country supports our troops whether we agree with what they do or not.  Because it isn't their decision where to go.  It was their decision to serve, and for that they deserve our undying respect and gratitude.

Having spent many years as a military wife, it is heart warming for me to read a post like this.
