'Tis the Season!

This might be my first rant-post so caution, there might be a little frustration coming through my blog today. Hopefully it's a one time thing and I'll get back to my normal lighthearted stuff.

So my family and I went to Costco today to do our monthly stock-up on the essentials...cereal, juice boxes, pasta, etc. Everything was fine and dandy, we were walking around looking at all the holiday gift ideas from a High School Musical doll set to a talking horse that responds to touch (very cool but very expensive). I was fine and getting into the holiday spirit until I heard...

DECK THE HALLS!!!???

Okay, I understand that it's November and Thankgiving is just around the corner but seriously, playing holiday music already? I certainly don't mean to be a Scrooge and I totally understand that this is the retailers way to get back into some shade of black, but do we really need to play the music??

I worked at Nordstrom last year and the year before and their motto is that they will not start to look at the December holidays until the day after Thanksgiving which is why they have  a crew sign up to help the visual department to help with the decorating. I LOVE that they do this!!

So, the day after Thanksgiving I too will sing along with the music but until then, can we just take one holiday at a time? It's much more enjoyable that way!!

Happy Friday to all, and to all, a GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Heidi :)

Heidi- This is way too soon! :-) I like to at least enjoy my Thanksgiving before entering into the next phase of festivities.

Heidi, great rant. I think some years Christmas marketing starts RIGHT AFTER Labor Day. It makes the season too long.

Heidi, if you're ranting I am agreeing!  I also hate to see the garden section at Walmart begin filling up with Christmas decorations right after Labor Day!

Heidi, I agree with you. We went to the outlet mall last weekend and it was non stop Jingle Bells and Holly Jolly Christmas. Sheesh, we still had the Halloween stuff up at home.
