Have you set up a GOOGLE ALERT for your own name? When you set up an alert, Google will send you an email everytime someone looks for your name. I get about an email a day so I assume that someone has looked at one of my blogs. And what does that mean???? I can't tell WHO looked, just that someone is searching for me. O.k., that could be a compliment, or it could be really scary!!

Where in the world are you?? Now that we can "Google" just about anything in the world that we are wondering about...we are obssessed with WHERE ARE WE LOCATED ON THE DANG GOOGLE PAGE!! I'm blogging my fingers off trying to make it to the top of the Google page. Is that today's notation of success?

Whenever I look at ActiveRain GROUPS that I have chosen to be a part of...I see that many people read some of my blogs but maybe only a few comment. (O.K., is 240 views alot? Who knows? What scale may I measure that against...I could be a total blogger loser compared to the hits/reads that some of you get!)

It's exhausting trying to be Google Worthy!! But, it's fun.

Google Alerts don't tell you everytime someone looks for your name.. don't get spooked.  It will tell you when someone WRITES about you or MENTIONS your name, but nothing can really tell who is searching for you. But it's a nice way to see if people are writing about you AND (hopefully) that they're saying good things!

I have it only set up for when someone uses my name in their blog or even my own. I want to know what people are saying about me.

Fred...thanks for your reply! It is kinda spooky!! LOL, I was actually hoping someone would really be impressed that I even knew what an Alert was! (I used to work for one of the largest auctions in the NW and I'd use Alerts to find out what other auctions across the nation were using for their LIVE items. I used the words, "million dollar auction" for an Alert. It would return newspaper articles from all over the U.S. If they sold something really cool, I'd use their ideas to help our fundraiser.)

Todd: How can I tell WHAT they are saying about me? How do I find out if they use my name, etc.? What else cool can you tell me?

Just set up an alert for "Jill Watts" (using quotes)...  any time someone mentions your name you'll get an alert.  Just click on the link and you can see what they're saying!

If you're getting too many (maybe there are other Jill Watts out there who are all over the web) try and tighten it up a bit and put "Jill Watts" and "Keller Williams" or "Jill Watts" and Vancouver or "Jill Watts" and realtor

If you don't use quotes, it will return ALL entries with Jill AND Watts... which you don't want.  This way, it has to be BOTH Jill and Watts.
