30 Comments on Learning to be Happy by Being Grateful
have done this for myself and encourage others to do it. I do believe when you count your blessings they grow and multiply.

Hi Mirela,
The power of positive thinking is a wonderful thing. It is so much easier and rewarding to focus on the upside. I so enjoy smiling and avoid anything less with a mighty force.
What a great idea. Starting a visual list for her to see and appreciate. You are such a wonderful friend! I am happy to hear she kept that priceless list up! :)
Now off to start my list............
Mirela, when we step back and count our blessings we can't help but smile, and our troubles melt away.
Mirela - Fantastic post and it is so great that you were able to help your friend!
This phrase that you wrote in your comment to Steve really resonates with me - "If you're not there when I need you, I don't need you when you're there." That is such a powerful phrase. I have had many fair weather friends and it is always disappointing when you realize that they don't have the 'stuff' of good friendship. You obviously have 'the stuff'!
What a great way to have a positive perspective. In this economy we need to look for the positive as much as we can. It is a great tome to invest!
I thought of: "the little engine that could" when I read this. I think I can I think I can. ..
if you think it: it will become a reality. So be carefull what you think!
How have you been? We haven't chatted in TOOOO long!
Rob
Rob, 'The Little Engine' is my hero :)
I believe in your comment - If I think it hard enough, and want it enough, I can make it happen!
Lisa: Absolutely! Our progress overall was achieved because of that credo.
Robert: Focus is everything. Two people can have the exact same camera, and walk the same street, at the same time. The images one photographer captures can be completely different that the other: one can photograph the garbage can overflowing with ugly, decomposing matter, the other can capture the majesty of the plant growing next to it... Focus is everything in life!
I've been well and you missed our chat last week. I believe the "gang" is getting together this Wednesday. Why don't you join us?
Katharine: Right you are! This is a great time to invest. I've been very busy selling to very bright people...
Lisa: Thank you! I believe that by behaving the way you'd like others to behave, you teach others how to do it.
Parents lament about their kids not being a certain way, but they forget that kids learn by example. The rhetoric has no effect on them; their parents' actions do; they show them HOW to behave. That works pretty much with everybody. You want love? Give love! You want respect? Give respect! You want attention? Give attention!
Mirela, you are so right - another one of my favorite mottos - Attitude is EVERYTHING. It makes so, so much of a difference. And one person's truth or reality is not necessarily the other person's truth or reality for the person standing next to them even thought they are looking at the same thing. Like our recent election - one person may see a demi God and another may see a scheister - and they are both looking at the same set of data. It is all in the perspective.
Gary: Right you are!
Janice: I'm glad this inspired you to start your own list! We all should have one!
Harold: Focus is everything. You see that which you focus on...
Lina: You are absolutely right:
I do believe when you count your blessings they grow and multiply.
Connie: Your comment touched my heart! What you said resonated with me.
You are a most perceptive person and you really see people!
I bet your Real Estate practice is quite successful!
Mirela - your response to my comment came through while I was writing my second comment. We certainly do think alike. Many people generally tend to mirror what we do - we show them respect, they show us respect. Unfortunately, that doesn't always work in the love category, but its always worth a try, right?!
Lisa: when it doesn't work in the "love" category, it's only because it's not the right one. When it is, it does...
Richard: Here, here!
Lori: I agree with you wholeheartedly:
I find there is no better medicine when you have a case of self-pity than to count your blessings.
Lynn: Thank you!
So many times it takes something drastic to "wake" us up to life...
Carole: It is true, isn't it? When we count our blessings they grow and multiply.
Pat: A therapist said that? That was a good therapist. I wish they dispensed more of that sage advice instead of the meds...
Thanks for the reminder to be grateful every day. I have just updated my list and posted it to my vision board. I appreciate you sharing the story about your friend.
Aloha Mirela,
You are a very wise lady indeed. I have always found that the Wonderful things in life far out number the challenges we often find ourselves distressing about. Making a gratitude list is an excellent way of aligning ones mind with the universal or God consciousness. As the law of attraction dictates: what you put out you get back; giving thanks will only inspire the universe to give you more things to be thankful for!
Peace,
Mirela,
You're a wonderful friend to do such a kind and thoughtful thing and also an extremely wise woman. ~Jo
