Recently Kathleen Lordbock asked this question "What Is In Your Tool Bag?" It was interesting to see the various items different people included as important. I had fun trying to figure out what some of the items would be used for. Now it seems time to discover:

"What Is In Your Office?"

Like Kathleen, I'll give a starter list and ask you to let the rest of us know what you just can't live without in your office.

  • Phone
  • Computer (with scanner and printer)
  • Checkbook
  • Files
  • Learning Materials
  • Bulletin Board
  • Lots of Toys for my granddaughter
  • blocks

I think the most important one in the toys for your grandaughter!  How old is she?

All I can see in my office is stacks and stacks of paper. It is horrible! I am going to have to hire a stager to tackle my mounds of receipts, biz cards, thank-you cards, articles and the like.

Hi Maureen, The granddaughter who lives with us is 18 months old. She is a cutie. I enjoy her so much. Thanks for asking.

  1. My flash drives -  for sharing files fast
  2. CD-Rs - for burning presentations for Realtors and Homeowners
  3. My post-it flags -  to attach to books I'm reading or to highlight a signature line on a contract
  4. Binder clips - to organize papers and keep them from falling away from each other
  5. Plastic expanding file folders that secure on the top - for organizing client projects, I keep everything related to a project in one waterproof, see through folder
  6. Can o' air - to keep my keyboard clean (kitty hair builds up)
  7. My MAC PowerBook Pro (See Active Rain MAC User's Group) - as the electronic linchpin of my humble enterprise.
  8. Kitty paper weights - they're ideal for holding down papers and keeping me company.
And yes, Jackson, I have piles of paper too and I'm considering hiring a professional organizer.

Jackson, How funny. I have two desks and both have way too much stacked on them at the moment. I did take time to take stuff off my virtual desktop the other day. Now I'll start on the hard desks. OR, maybe I should just get another desk and move over one more. Ha!

Veronica, That waterproof stuff makes sense in Denver for sure. We have to use dust proof jacket files here in the desert. :) It would be fun to see photos of your kitty paper weights.

Hey Yvonne,

Here's some of my favorite kitty paper weight pictures...On the first she's not so much holding down papers as my husband's laptop. The second one they're fighting for territory on an old desk I used to have.

Veronica, Your putty-tat pictures are wonderful. The one on the laptop looks a lot like a cat our daughter had whose name was Chocolate Milk. The reason for the name? Our dog was named Cookie. It just seemed to work. Chocolate became the name we actually used.

Leslie, Yes #8 can be a huge problem  -- especially for some clients.:) The other day I did something I said I would Never do. I asked the big screen to babysit my granddaughter for me. It worked but I was ashamed and hope I don't get into that habit. Ahh cartoons.

Terry, You apparently have a naughty dog -- the restager dog from the depths of ... Hope your cats can keep him in line.

Phyllis, Yes, a stager would not like to deal with my plethora of photos. Yor are right grandkids ROCK!
