Officials: Men Pull Cruel Joke On Soldiers' Wives

2 Men Tell Soldiers' Wives Their Husbands Have Been Killed

Officials said two men in Fort Campbell are pretending to be a casualty notification officer and a chaplain, pulling a cruel joke on soldiers' wives. Thursday, the men knocked on a woman's door and told her that her husband, who is deployed, had been killed. She called Fort Campbell officials to verify the information. They assured her that her husband is still alive and put her in touch with him. Officials said they have had other incidents reported by military families living off post. Thursday was the first time it happened on post. The man impersonating the notification officer wears dress green uniform, officials said, and the man posing as a chaplain wears civilian clergy attire.

This is a sad story. I do hope these individual's are quickly caught and get what they deserve.

Richard, I know, hearing this just breaks my heart! All of these wives here at Ft. Campbell that I know and love who are waiting on their husbands. This just makes me sick.

I hope they catch them and throw them under the jail. That is wrong - plain and simple.

Sick and sad. I've had the real knock on the door and know how helpless you feel when it happens. May they be caught and put away for a long time.

Janie - this is a terrible prank and I am going to feature this for you so others can take notice.

Hi Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear that you have experienced such a horrible thing. It must have been so hard on you. My prayers are with you. But, you know then how truly cruel this is, I wish I could go out and find these men myself, I'm little, but I have pepper spray and I can kick and call 911. And I would do everything I could to keep them until Johnny Law arrived.

Janie - Your welcome and these type are pranks are very evil and I hope it never happens to your daughter. Good luck bringing your son-in-law home, I think the war will be ending soon!

I am just over whelmed by this and cannot understand what anyone could get out of it! They are sick and need to be put away for a very long time. After Janie's pepper spray or maybe something much stronger!!

wow, how sad. I can not believe how incredibly HEARTLESS people can be. That is all their is to it. They are heartless men. Whether you agrea or disagree with the war and what these soliders are doing for our country, they are still there, fighting for YOU... because thats THEIR JOB. I dont know if thats why they are doing it, but that is what first came to mind. I am going to pray for all the other families out there that they dont have this happen to them! Keep us posted if you hear any further news on this!
