Real Estate Agents Eating Well in Eastern CT

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Home Team
Inventory continues to build in Eastern CT, as it has in many parts of the country. Along with an increase of inventory, comes an abundance of "Brokers Opens".  Every Monday,  fax machines begin to hum and email inboxes begin to fill with invitations for free food.  The menus are a virtual smorgesboard of delights!   From Lobster Bisque (yes, this is New England, you know) to gourmet wraps, there are no boring lunch meat platters here.  With so many listings, agents are joining together and hosting "progressive" Brokers Opens.  Each stop along the way offers a temptation with the dessert finale at the last home on the schedule.  Most of these open houses are at lunch time but tomorrow I'm attending one being held between 4PM-6PM.  Pizza is on the menu.  Since I have a meeting from 5PM-8PM, it is the perfect stop for me on the way.  Oh yeah, I guess l'll look at the house too!

We've found that only agents with no business have the time to attend the free lunches. With visual tours and photos on the internet, you don't need the broker opens.

hmmm, It appears you may have missed my sarcasm.  I also believe that Brokers Opens are a waste of time.  Next time, I may need to add "Sarcasm Alert" in my title.  :-)

Realtors have always been known to make the "cattle call" for open house food.  Sarcasm or not, it's true. The slower the market gets, the more goodies get put on the table.

I heard tell of a 52" TV to agents for selling builder inventory.  With bonuses like that, we know buyers are paying too much.

Linda,

I caught the sarcasm!  I was actually smiling while I was reading your blog because its so true.

Enjoy the open house tomorrow and write a blog about it tomorrow sometime.

Inventory here in Fairfield County is extremely high as well.

Always,

Nima
