The NAR Convention is for meeting Social Friends.

I'm not sure if I just happen to be taking the wrong classes, but the phrase "Everything I needed to know  about real estate marketing, I learned on Social Media" sure seems to be true today.

If I hear one more NAR class about the need to join facebook, linkedin, or Active Rain, I'll go crazy!

It's not because you should not be doing it. We all should be doing this - if we can keep up with it. It just seems crazy to me to spend time, money and effort to go out of state to meet with "Nationally Renowned Speakers" and hear simple things like, "you need to use Twitter."

OF COURSE YOU DO!

But why do I need to come to the NAR convention to hear this? I don't. If I made it here, then I probably already know. And If I'm attending and I don't use social media yet, then I probably want to stay in my cave.

So why am I here? I'm here to meet my social media friends!

I thought I was coming for new ideas - and maybe I will hear a few more, but so far it's mostly about the relationships!

Maybe I'll actually make it to the Expo Hall tomorrow instead of hearing I need to blog. Hmmm...

Hope to see you all at the party tonight! We'll be a little late since we have to go to our local association dinner first, but we'll be there!

Speaks VOLUMES about how far behind the times these speakers are Web2.0 and all the social networking was latest year hot topic .. so why do you think they have nothing new or is it they is nothing new  except hard work is the reward.. and that message may not sell

Hi Eric! - I'm not sure what the deal is this year. However, this is my first NAR convention. Maybe I just picked the wrong classes. I just thought that there might be some even newer products out there that I had not heard about.

Well, the party was nice. I got to meet a few of my friends in person for the first time.

There were a lot of venders there, so if I missed meeting you, I'm sorry. I tried bouncing around everywhere.

I guess I'll eat my cold cheeseburger and go to bed for a few hours.

We have a lot of local agents/brokers going to the convention. It will be interesting to hear their stories too... It does seem like they are promoting Social Networks becasue right now they are the newest trend.

Truth is the market is slow and agents are grasping for ideas... IMO....

Charles,  the are many vendors here at AR. I think they were invited too.

It sure seemed that there were more options for webpages, mls info on phones, and other marketing ideas. Alittle bit of everything!

And I'm not sure if it was because it was my first NAR convention, but it was pretty overwhealming in the expo center!
