Manor Texas a sleepy little town 12 miles Northeast of downtown Austin Texas is known mostly for Manor Downs one of the few Horse tracks in Texas and a Down Home Restaurant called the 290 Cafe. In 2000' Manor had 1,204 people and by 2005' 1,877 people. Manor is continuing to grow. There are at least 10 different New home builders currently building in Manor.

As of yesterday Manor is climbing to the next level in growth. It was announced that a major development is coming to Manor. It will have the largest sound stage and largest outdoor water tank for film production in North America. It will include back lots and the residential areas will surround the studio. The residential areas will surround the studio and sounds like they will be built in a design that can fit with the movies that might be filmed there. Also it is said this will create over 8,000 jobs in Manor and bring to the city over 8,500 new residences! Here is another great site with pictures detailing the development! http://www.villamuse.com/

Danny - I like your description of Manor, a sleepy little town, sad to say most of these places are disappearing.  Is this town in your marketplace?  if it is, there will be opportunities coming your way.

Jennifer our MLS coverage goes up to 56 miles east of Austin and Manor is only 15 miles. So yes it is definitely in my area of coverage. I've already sold some homes there. Although Manor is going to change overnight. I think this is really exciting news for the area. 8000 jobs brought to a small town like that overnight isn't anything to sneeze about either!

Danny, any idea why they chose Manor?  Very interesting and I'll look forward to seeing follow up about it.

I'm just glad they chose east and not west.

Probably because land is cheaper east of the interstate.

Chris,I really don't know why at the moment unless it's because there is already movie lots set up at the old Robert Mueller Airport and places it in close proximity. I do know that the state legislature passed special legislation in regards to this! Go figure? No matter where it is located though not only is this a boost to the Austin area but Texas as a whole!

Gregory, what's the matter? Everything else is moving west towards you!

Thesa, your absolutely right about another small town disappearing. But it was inevitable because there is a major highway going right thru the town and along this highway all the little towns are being consumed.
