Cyndee's candor and ability to demonstrate her success on her panel from blogging and Web 2.0 made it's way to me today all the way from Orlando.

I really think it is important for people looking to move into these new arenas (blogging, Web 2.0) that the speakers be able to quantify their success and be able to demonstrate their success with these new tools.

I'm sure Cyndee's willingness to be forthcoming not only solidifies her celebrity, but actually HELPS the people in the audience!

This is exactly why I have a problem with Inman's 25 Most Influential Bloggers.  Looking at the list, most of the "Influentials" are either sponsors, advertisers, or writers for Inman.

I know there are agents out there, and companies, that are actually making money by blogging.

I find it sad that a lot of people are actually looking to these panelists, publications for their guidance.

In business, success and influence is acquired by actually making money.....no?

In my opinion, Laurie Manny is one of the most overlooked successful real estate agent bloggers.

Hey Kevin - Cyndee certainly demonstrated her knowledge and success with blogging and different types of social media today on that panel.  I was sitting in the second row from the front, and it was quite enlightening to hear her online strategy and how she puts it to great use for her business.

Good points and way of looking at it. I don't venture into those other supposedly Influential bloggers. I get all I need right here =)

BTW, I agree with the selection of Laurie Manny.  She knows what she's doing.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for the mention (blushing).  I agree that Cyndee Hayden is absolutely doing it right and is certainly reaping the rewards.  Cyndee put everything she has into her online presence, I don't know anybody else that worked harder.

As far as I am concerned, I kind of like life out of the limelight.  Being a social butterfly is very time consuming and quite frankly with the market what it has been, the time is needed on the real estate end of the busines and my real estate is very local.

The TOP lists - all of them - are subjective.  It's who you know, not what you know. Vendors should not be included in any top real estate list - but they are.  Friends get miffed when friends don't include them.

This social networking has given everybody involved the sense that we are all equal - bloggers.  While we are all bloggers, we are not all equal.  Many in this world have a very serious agenda.  Here at AR we have both new and experienced agents, broker/owners, tech companies, people selling seo, blog platforms, videos etc... The difference is obvious to some of us, but many just clean miss it.  The vendors are here because the Realtors are here and we are their target market.

Vendors have been herding Realtors to many social networking sites elluding to the volume of business they are receiving on them.   They are - from other Realtors.  The Reators flock to these sites hoping to find business, but alas - just vendors and other Realtors.  Can you say "Pied Piper"?

Thank you for the mention and your frendship, I value both.

And thank you Lenn, coming from you that is a huge compliment.

Very time consuming.  I get many offers to write here or there.   I can *barely* keep up with my own blog.  I think some agents are really afraid to let everyone know what the reality is, whether it be business they glean from blogging or social networks, for many reasons.

I, for one, can't imagine  much business coming from Facebook or Twitter, can you?  Am I asking for heinous amounts of "hate" comments?  I sometimes wonder how much business one is doing if they are on AR or Twitter all day long.

Laurie,

Even tho top lists are subjective, they have to be tempered with SOME reality.

There are people that know how to use technology and then there are people that get wrapped up in it and forget the purpose of it.  Cyndee and Laurie certainly know how to use the technologya nd make it WORK for them rather then them working for the technology.  Too many of the "most influential" and even the panelists are workign for the technology instead of letting it work for them.  Kudos on the post, Kev.  110% agreement from me.

I never thought of being a slave to the technology.  I wish I had the time to be "more" involved.  It can be fun....but unfortunately, yet, it's not very productive.

So good to hear from you-.....where u been girl?  Watching the Real Housewives of Atlanta?

Hey Kevin - Twitter is a cocktail hour for me, or like recess when I need a break from work.  I do know there are some who've gotten business from it, but that's not why I go on there from time to time.

And there are plenty who are slaves to technology.  I would just prefer to have technology work for me instead of me getting all wrapped up in it as some do.
