The Power Of Positive Thinking

While I am not much for "feel good" blogs, I have recognized the value that positive thinking plays in our business lives. I take a more practical approach, however. I try to recognize the good in everything that happens, rather than classify the occurrence as positive or negative.

If I did not get the new client today, perhaps it was not going to be a beneficial relationship, or perhaps it has freed up some time to do something else.

It is a slow time of year for property management, but rather than stress over the calls we are not getting, I choose to be thankful for the ones that we are getting. I think that it is this positive outlook that has kept our small business successful during this downward spiral.

I hope it either gets a little busier for us between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but if it does not, I will be thankful for the rest before business inevitably picks up in early 2009.

Hang in there everyone, and know that it will all work out just fine. Now I am off to do my part in a struggling economy- I am taking my wife to dinner.

I would not say I am the master of The Secret  but I will say that i seem to call things towards me .. good or bad and am aware of how my thoughts did call the experiences I am having .. so I try to control my thoughts towards the good.

Sometimes I get in a funk but all it takes is some good calls and people to need you and BAM you are back in.

I am owning a Staging and Interior Design Business and yes we feel the pinch....

however the good site to it is having time to rething re-evaluate, planning for 2009 an to  spend value time with family and friends. Looking at the glass half full vs. empty is a good appraoch to go with....

I agree whole heartedly.  I am a big advocate of positive thinking, smiling, saying please and thank you...it is unfortunate that these manners and morale boosters we teach our children are often forgotten in the professional world.  I like your style Thomas--good work!

I agree, positive thinking is the way to go.  I also try to look at the best in people and not market against other companies.  I talk about my company and what we do and let the customer make his own determinations on the competition.  That keeps me focused on what I do, not drawing my clients to think about the other guy.

Property Management the way it SHOULD be.

I think that, on some level, we all market with a basic strategy in mind. We highlight our strengths, sometimes in sharp contrast to our competitor's perceived weaknesses. We see it everywhere in the marketplace, from Mac vs. PC, Ford vs. Toyota, etc., and the "David vs. Goliath" story has always been a family favorite. Thank you for your comments.
