In addition to being a real estate broker with Earth Origins Realty, I am also a green builder with Earth Origins Construction. I am currently building a 2600 square foot home here in Albuquerque's North Valley. I can't believe how much more time and energy it takes to build an eco friendly home. There are so many new and exciting products and technologies out there that it can blow one's mind away.
I have not listed the property yet....but it will soon be on the market.
Some of the green features that this home includes are: passive solar orientation, solar water heater, rammed earth walls, locally built (by Paul) bamboo cabinets, thermal mass conducting slate floors, 12" walls with cellulose insulaton, American Clay walls, no-VOC stains and sealers, rainwater catchment & grey water system, cooling towers, solar tubes, sustainably harvested vigas, and low electromagnetic field design.
In addition to the actual green features, the home is absolutley beautiful. My wife and I have designed this home to honor the beauty of the earth. The exterior reflects the massiveness and strength of the Sandia Mountains, and the interior has earth, fire, and water features as well. I will soon post more pictures and keep the blog up to date regarding the progress.
I guess the "blessing" of this slow real estate market is that it has freed up time for me to build this amazing eco-friendly home.
