Join me for my weekly bible study to start off this week with some quiet time to ponder and reflect about what is important. This week, the focus is about When You Let God Guide, He Provides. As I study this, I pray it over my life, my thoughts and my business.
Several related scriptures in this study this week:
Matthew 6:25-33
I tell you not to worry about your life. Don't worry about having something to eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food or clothing? Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth more than birds? Can worry make you live longer? Why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow. They don't work hard to make their clothes. God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. He will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such little faith? Don't worry and ask yourselves, "Will we have anything to eat? Will we have anything to drink? Will we have any clothes to wear?" Only people who don't know God are always worrying about such things. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all of these. But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.
Luke 12:28-32
2 Corinthians 9:8
God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done.
Philippians 4:19
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
God loves us as His children. If He takes cares of the birds and bees, what more would our Father do for us? As much as we associate with material things, prosperity and wealth in these context, I quickly reflected on another important point. Not only does God provide us with all that we need in order to survive this world, He will give us our heart's desires: peace, comfort, health, compassion, mercy, forgiveness - all of which money cannot buy.
Jeremiah 29: 11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
God has a plan and His plan is always perfect even though we may not understand it yet. If we let God complete our life's painting, then we would understand why things are the way it is. I need to repeat after myself this thought everyday.
James 1:5-8
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
Ask and He will not resent us for asking. If it is material possession that we want, ask. If it is good business that we want, ask. But He as our Father always know our needs better than we do. He will deliver us in His own time. Unfortunately, not ours.
As much as I pray for God to provide, I know that God helps those who help themselves. So, there is a fine line between just sitting around all day praying for better business, more clients and enlarged territories. I believe that I must prepare myself in order to receive God's provision. In the past, I wrote a blog called, Prepare For Rain. I know if I post this link, chances are that it would not be read. So, I am going to make this post even longer by using the content from a previous blog. But that's because I feel there's a need to understand this story:
Prepare For Rain (from the Movie Facing The Giants):
This is the story about 2 farmers who needed rain. Both prayed for rain. But only one of them went out to prepare his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the Rain?
The answer: The one who prepared his fields.
Big Question: Which one are you?
God will send the rain when He is ready. All you do is to prepare your fields to receive it.
We serve a God that opens doors no one can shut. He shuts doors where no one can open. In Revelations 3, God said, "I have placed for you an open door that no one can shut. I know you dont have much strength yet you have kept my word and did not deny My name. Keep a tight grip with what you have so no one can distract you and steal your crown. I will keep you safe in the time of testing."
Prior to becoming a believer, I thought that all that I have was because I set my mind to it and went to achieve all these things my heart desired. I was the author of my life and the maker of my destiny. There are some truth to them but at the same time, I was naive. I forgot that all that I have was because of the Lord's provision, not my ability that acquired them. Since giving my life to the Lord, I plough my fields everyday to anticipate God's provision. BUT, I leave it all up to Him to provide.
If He thinks that the deal is better left dead, I take comfort in that - after doing all I know. If He thinks He wants to resurrect a dead deal, He can make it alive again. I am just here to serve where He calls me. I serve with great joy and enthusiasm, giving my very best with all that I have and know. The rest is up to Him. This season in my life, I - like most of you are called to serve in the real estate industry. Until He moves me, I am to bloom where I am planted. And so are you.
1 Colossians 3:6
I planted, and Apollos watered, but God made it grow.
Now, be ALL that you can in ALL of your deals. Serve your clients with ALL of your soul. Then let God drive the bus in your business. When you let Him guide, He will provide EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Now, go out there to be the salt and light of this earth. Much to your success this week.
I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be.
