amazed girl                           Okay, I think I've intimidated myself.  When I wrote my little blog "The Wrong Reason Why Blogging's Right For Me" last week, never in my wildest imagination did I think it would become an Active Rain Featured Post.  As if that weren't enough, I had the incredible honor of being included in the great Neal Bloom's "My Favorite Top 25 Blogs For The Week.  I mean really, it's just too much.  I'm so excited, I'm so grateful, I'm so elated, I'm so......TERRIFIED!!!

I've come down with a severe case of BLOG BLOCK.  I mean the pressure is enormous.  I don't want to be the "one hit wonder of Active Rain."  I can't eat, I can't sleep, I can't concentrate............okay Melody........just breathe..........

The little voice inside Melody's head...

"Melody, get a grip!  You're forgetting the reason you love blogging in the first place.  It's a STRESS RELIEVER...remember???  It's not about features and accolades, it's about self expression and adding value to those who read about the things that inspire you.  So, come back down to earth sister and get with the program!

...That little voice inside Melody's head is pretty tough on her sometimes.

The little voice, however, is right.  I actually wrote most of my next blog last night after attending a seminar yesterday on Priority Management and Time Blocking.  It was in the middle of that blog that the panic set in.  It's an informational piece.  It's not filled with nail biting suspense or subject matter that will change the world.  I do believe, however, that along with my other blogs, it has its place and its value.

It doesn't matter if tons of people don't read it because the reality is, if it helps, motivates or inspires even one person, my blog on managing my time, will have been worth my time......stay tuned.

Melody, of all the fears you could choose, this is the fear you pick?  It looks like you moved past it.  :) Seven posts in and you're doing fine. Welcome!

04/18/2007 02:56 AM by Jeff Turner (Real Estate Shows)

I'm honored (and maybe a little star struck) that Jeff Turner read my blog!! Thank you!

Melody...  I agree with Jeff Turner....  good job and what a great way to sit back and take a look at your fears and overcome them. Where did you get this insight so soon?  ;o)  And something else that you mentioned.....  writing different types of blogs. You mentioned that you wrote an informational blog. I try to mix it up. Some people just write one type of blog, others write many different types. It's part of finding you own blogging voice. Just speaking your mind and feeling comfortable in what you write.

As some have mentioned in the past, you are off to a good start.

Melody, I think recording artists experience the same thing. When they try to come up with a hit, they usually don't. But when they write what comes naturally to them, and because it's what they like, they come up with a hit. Good luck.

AWESOME, another featured post!  Keep up girl!

04/18/2007 07:50 AM by Cynthia Sloop (Community Property Manager)

Melody - Good morning and congratulations on your early success.  My friend Chris Elizabeth Griffith and I were talking earlier in the week and I said to her "I feel sorry for Realtors that don't know about Active Rain and for Active Rain members that don't take an interest in participating in this great system.  Many create a profile and there they stay with 800 points and now participation at all. How sad and it goes back to the 80/20 rule that is not 80/20 anymore.  Keep up the great work and I look forward to reading many more of your posts....featured or not.  Have a great day.

04/18/2007 07:50 AM by Boise Idaho Real Estate - George Tallabas (RE/MAX Advantage)

Congrats Melody

But fear not, some posts will make it others won't. It is supposed to be fun!  Write from the heart. You'll be just fine.

I don't really get what you are afraid of, but anyway, good job! :)

Melody, you're genuine in your writing.  Very nice.  It looks like you can lay your fears to rest.  Another Featured.  No more worrying about being a one hit wonder.  Congratulations.

It's so true. I know how you feel. Having your stress reliever cause stress isn't good.....

04/18/2007 08:13 AM by Christy Powers - Pooler, Savannah Real Estate Agent (Keller Williams Coastal Area Partners)

Melody!

Did you notice sometihng different today about you?

A feature!

Freekin incredible...hows that for results.

Congrats and thank you for the mention...I spell it Neal not Neil..but thats ok...your up one on me.

You should be proud and Jeff apparently did not comment mine so be complimented! HEHE!

04/18/2007 08:14 AM by Neal Bloom-Realtor ® Assoc.-CRS-Weston FL (RE/MAX Premier Associates)

Melody,  I join you in your fear about being featured.  You express it so well.  I'm sure it has happened to others.  I was so nervous when I began getting a few comments.  I was amazed that someone was actually reading what I just wrote.  The biggest hurdle to overcome still is how the first negative comments will affect you. If you write enough, someone will eventually disagree with you.  How you let it affect you will be key to your future blogging.

04/18/2007 08:44 AM by Tim Maitski "Secret Agent Guy" (HomeAtlanta.com)

Congrats Melody. Now that you have your second featured post... the pressure is off! Sit back, relax and enjoy your next blog. i am looking forward to it.

04/18/2007 08:46 AM by Michael Delp (Mortgage Pro)

I do not believe there is anything wrong with getting some negative comments, it is just part of peoples opinions...I would be worried if I didn't see at least a few...not that I welcome them but there is nothing bad about it. We are all human.

04/18/2007 08:48 AM by Neal Bloom-Realtor ® Assoc.-CRS-Weston FL (RE/MAX Premier Associates)

Melody, Look at that you did it again! Just be yourself and write what's on your mind. Do your best and features will take care of themselves.

04/18/2007 09:18 AM by Bryant Tutas-Tutas Towne Realty, Inc

Way to go Melody. Some are born with it, others must develop it. You're a natural.

04/18/2007 09:30 AM by Keith Jeppson - Salt Lake City Real Estate (Keller Williams Utah Realty)

Melody:  "Build it and they will come", write it and you'll get it off your chest!  As you said in your post, writing these things is almost as much about "getting it off my chest" as it is communicating the idea to the masses.  I've found the greatest joy in blogging on AR is the sense of community and the stuff that I've been able to learn from others!

Can't wait to see the managing my time post, that's one I can really relate to, (this one too).  Great Job Melody, keep up the good work and more than all that, just have some fun.  Tell that little voice, you're the boss, not it!  :-)

So true it happened to me last week!  Still working through it.  We will overcome!

Oh, I know the feeling about the 'blog block'...so funny!  Good name, BTW.  Ah, I think my little voice keeps me a little reality based so I don't get too consumed with myself---helps keep it all in perspective.  Sometimes it gets the best of me so I'll take Brad's advice---I'm the boss, not the voice!  LOL  I'll give you a 'WOO HOO' for a great job!  :)

Good one Melody...I specially like the part about "The money I save blogging is the money I'd be spending lying on a therapists couch..."

I'm also pleasantly surprised about the support and encouragement people have for each other here-how refreshing (I'm new here)

Keep expressing who you are and when the little voice comes on about fear or whatever don't forget to thank it for sharing and send her on a vacation.

Hi Melody~ Congrats on your posts! Don't be nervous be PROUD!  Yes, this blogging thing can be obsessive and exciting, but its awesome isn't it? And here's a little tip about Mr. Jeff Turner...it wasn't too long ago he was a little unsure about his "voice", but look how he "turned out"....no pun intended;) (Luv ya Jeff!)

Allison:  I always write from the heart and you're right, it is fun!

Edite:  You're right "only thing we have to fear is fear itself" --FDR

Maggie:  Thanks, I got over the hump and it's all good from here.

Christy:  So true...stress relievers shouldn't be stressful.

Neal:  No, thank you!!! Sorry about the name misspelling...noted and corrected.

Tim:  Everyone can't always agree, as long as they're not mean...I cry easily:)

Michael:  Thank you - From now on a live in the moment...what will be will be...

Neal:  As long as they don't make me cry :)

Bryant:  Thanks so much.  I truly respect your advice and enjoy you and TLW very much!

Keith: You're so sweet, I just really enjoy it.

Bob:  You're so right, the sense of community  on AR is astounding

Brad:  I just have to find the time to finish it...need to block that :)

Kevin:  ....just breathe...sit at the computer and begin.  It takes on a life of its own.

Abby:  I hear you...the problem is, my "little voice inside my head" is usually way more rational than

          the wacky blonde exterior.

Steve:  Welcome !!! The support and encouragement on this site is amazing.  This is one great group!

Melody, don't worry now ......guess who might be doing the week in review in 2 weeks.

04/18/2007 02:14 PM by Neal Bloom-Realtor ® Assoc.-CRS-Weston FL (RE/MAX Premier Associates)

Keep writing to relieve stress and you'll do fine. Some will be featured, some won't. Some will get comments, some won't. You'll never be able to figure out which are which, and it doesn't really matter.

04/18/2007 02:54 PM by Sharon Simms St Pete Florida CRS CIPS CLHMS (RE/MAX Metro)

Desiree:  Good point, I want to read the blog that tells us how to shut our brains down for awhile.

Neal:  I was finally hoping to get a good nights sleep....no chance of that now :)

Sharon: You're right, sometimes I lose sight of the big picture, thanks

Neal:  Okay Neal with an A, I look forward to hearing from you.  I'm not one to back down from a challenge...I'll make myself sick, I'll lose sleep, I'll obsess, I might even cry.......but I won't back down :)

Michael:  Thanks so much for your very nice comment.

Melody-Great post! It gets easier as time passes.  I call it Blog Fog myself!  I decided instead of rushing to blog once again, I blog when my mind is ready, I now blog for quality and for a stress reliever, but when it does not come easy I wait.  That is when I am most creative and find it fun! I haven't posted in a few days but I make sure and comment and rate the posts, that way I still feel like I am Active in the Rain!   Thanks really enjoyable!
