I woke up this morning to discover I'd gone through the magical 300,000 point barrier. Amazingly, it is still possible to breathe here!
It has in fact, come much sooner than I thought it would. And what a journey it has been! There have been Localism posts including some features, stories about my family, competition entries and even a victory and, of course, politics.
So many people say you should not post about politics - but I disagree. I think it is extremely important that your clients know who you are. That's why there are stories about my family; that's why there are many animal stories; that's why there are tributes to our men and women in harms' way.
Perhaps it is because of my radio show. You can't fake radio. You get found out really fast and so I never have. I am who I am and my blog here on AR is a window to that person.
How have I benefitted from being here on AR? First and foremost I have developed relationships with people I might otherwise never have met. As we hurtle through life on this blue rock flying in the black vastness of space, it is the relationships we form that ultimately give purpose to it all. I am grateful for the people I know who I would not have known without AR. And at Christmas, I will be spending some time with one of my friends from here on the unique Florida island - Key West. Yes folks - Christmas is just 54 days away as I write this.
Then of course there is business. Yes I have received business just from being here. I have a listing right now which I am hoping to get a firm contract on today that I simply would not have without AR. Well worth the price of entry you could say.
And so the many hours that have brought me to this point have been a genuine voyage of discovery. I value my time here and I thank the AR gods for creating this place.
And now - because of my roots of course - Ladies and gentlemen -

Simon - First off, a congrats is in order. So, congrats! Time flies when you having fun, right;) To an extent, I tend to agree with you about posting on Politics... then again there are many who want to appear to take no stance in the perception of prospective clients and fellow peers. Tell ya what, if I ever become an elected official... I may just be knocking at your door. Besides, I love a good & civil debate:)
Congrats bro.....Im still having a hard time digesting the nightmare on elm street from last tuesday. Having said that....You are awesome! Keep up the good work. See you at 1,000,000.
Congrats on 300K...I'm breathing down your neck!!! Imagine a great American like yourself touting the works of a British rock & roll group!!! :^) Thanks, Fran
Simon -- You have contributed a lot to Active Rain and I am glad that you have received so much benefit as well. We look forward to the next 300K points!
Inna - they certainly do! As for the other night, my back went out and I could barely walk so I wouldn't have been much fun. Frustrating considering the Hard Rock is ten minutes from my house!
Simon...CONGRATULATIONS!!! WOW 300000.....I have only been doing this for a week and I already feel like my bottom is grown to the chair and have a permanent crick in my neck!
I enjoy your blogs...so onward and upward to 400k!

Congratulations, that's alot of work to get 300,000 points. Did you have to remind us Christmas is so close? Plus, you're going to Key West ...AND I'm looking at 10 inches of snow out my front door!!!!!
Simon - Congratulations! I agree with you, hiding who we are will just make us another name among millions. Your honesty and displaying your feelings makes you stand out.
