Imagine the thrill of visiting your new home for the first time, as the First Lady elect.

Laura Bush must be so proud to show her residence of 8 years to Michele Obama.   I can vision the tour, the questions and explanations.  What an honor for Laura Bush, as the First Lady of the White House for eight years, to explain the protocol, the Christmas Decorations, the staff, the bedrooms and where the new puppy will play, to the First Lady Elect, Michelle Obama.

I have shown many homes over the years, even a few of my own to future owners.  We never truly stay in any one place our entire life, or if we do it is rare.  We are "stewards" of the property and the land, taking care of it for the next owner or generations.  It is always exciting for the "new residents" to truly explore their new home and usually bittersweet when the "former residents" turn over the keys and head off into a new horizon.

The time will come in January for the new residents of the white house.   Michele Obama must be so excited to be the new first lady and Laura Bush must feel bittersweet knowing that her time is drawing to a close as first lady, although, she must also be happy to be returning to her home in Texas.

I am sure this evening Michelle will sit down with two very inquisitive little girls and talk to them about the new place they will call home.

Now that would be a great open house. I am sure the girls will enjoy their day and their Dad will have a blast also. Nice of the Bush's to be so accommodating, so fast, good for them.

I think the Bushes can't wait to leave. Can't blame them.

Just look how they both aged in 8 years....such a shame.

I heard recently that, despite all the perks that come with living in the white house, the first family still has to pay for any food that their private guests consume...

I've shown a ton of homes in my career, but I cannot imagine showing the White House. WOW! I guess it will always be bigger than life to me. GBU!
