Soccer Team by William Wilhelms

You can't leaf through business weeklies without finding a list proclaiming which city or state has the best this-or-that.

So I often take such information with a grain of salt. However, I *am* quite pleased that Business Week came out with their list of "best places to raise your kids" ... mainly because, of the 52 cities studied, Gilbert Arizona came in high on the list.

I know. Everyone has an opinion of which town is best.

Very often the place of our youth ranks very high in our own list. Since I happen to have lived in Gilbert as a younger guy I think their information is top-notch. :-)

I can attest that the quality of schools, the look of the country with access to the city, and the small town friendliness is tough to beat. It's just that kind of place.

I think my town comes in at the top of the list for people who are single and under 40!  I seriously doubt that DC comes in on any tp 50 lists that are dependent on great public schools - although we're working on it.

What a beautiful photo, chuck! It gives parents such peace of mind to raise their kids in an "accredited" neighborhood or town. No matter where you live, a loving atmosphere at home is essential...all the rest is icing on the cake. Sounds like Gilbert, AZ takes the cake in your state!

I saw that article, Chuck - think it was reported via link in Yahoo also.  Good stuff for Gilbert!

Awwww. Any good news in Business Week about your 'area' is good news. Maybe I'll get to Bloodhound in May and see AZ again.

Patricia- I love your city! I'm sure there are quite a few "Top Cities for...." listings that it would show up under. If not, create your own. Looks like you already have the category. :-)

Mara- That photo comes from one of my favorite places Stock.xchang. There's a photos for purchase section as well as a larger section where you can select images for blogging or other uses. Each photographer/artist has a "terms of usage" entry. I am glad that they're able to receive exposure- there are quite a few talented people who post there.

Kent- Yes... I saw it in Yahoo also... hmmm... let me find the link... ok... here it is.

Susie- I'm going to have to check into that... it's not everyday we have such events here. Usually we just have lavish parties thrown by bailout recipients.

I really like the Gilbert area and have always thought of it having a very family friendly environment.  Glad that recognition came to a great place.  Maybe someday my wife and I will move into that area.  Who knows?

Luisa-Actually... I have been receiving more calls lately. With home prices as low as they are right now it's a great time to pick out a place.

Teresa- I like the photo also... kids all dressed up, at the ready, no action just yet. Can someone just let them kick the ball already?

Eric- This is one of those things... the magazine picks out one city and you catch yourself thinking, yes... it *is* great... but so is Mesa, and Chandler, and Tempe, and Scottsdale and......... :-)

Having moved from San Diego to Gilbert 9 years ago, I concur whole-heartedly with your sentiments Chuck.  I know SD has the weather, the Pacific, even the greatest muni in Torrey Pines, but I'll take the family friendly, "country in the city" feel of Gilbert any day!

Jason & Amber- It's pretty cool when a publication lets the world know something you've felt to be true.

Bill- Exactly... "country in the city" feel... I'm going to use that line as it very much describes Gilbert.
