Are you dealing with a nagging technology issue related to real estate?  Can't do certain tasks in Top Producer?  Does an error pop up randomly that you can't explain?  Spyware and popups continually harrassing you?  Need a PC tune-up?    Ignoring these problems can really restrict what you can do on the computer, and we all know how much real estate work depends on computers & technology.

Leave a comment below and let us know what your current technology issue is!  We will try to resolve it through a blog comment response, hopefully together we can solve your issue or help someone else resolve their issue.  If your problem requires further attention, we can arrange a remote access session.

Most Computer Issues can be solved remotely when you use "The Real Estate Tech Desk" - Real Estate Computer Experts!  No matter WHERE you are located, we can solve the majority of issues through our remote repair service.

I've got a minor issue. Whenever I plug in a memory stick into a USB port, my computer reboots. The Tech where I purchased the computer says to ground the memory stick to remove any static charge. Doesn't work.

Sue, Thanks for the comments!  We hope that it will be just asw successful as our on-site services!

Bob & Carolin - no, not a real clients problem, (well not mine at least)  but I have seen some crazy things before.

Laura,  we charge $45/hr for remote login service.  What does the blue screen error say (mainly the first two lines, and the last line)   and does it eventually turn off or does it stay at the blue screen

Michael,

Does this only happen with one particular memory stick?  or does every memory stick you put in the computer it reboots?   If it is only one particular stick try it in another computer - if it causes problems on the other computer than the stick is bad.  If every memory stick you put on the computer makes it reboot, then it is a PC issue - IF this occurs, does plugging in any other USB device cause the computer to reboot?

David, it only does it with one memory stick. This same memory stick does not cause a problem when I use it on my laptop or other computer. All aother USB devices seem to work ok. I also have another memory stick and it doesn't cause the computer to reboot.

Michael,

Hmm...this can also be caused by improperly removing the memory stick from the computer, Down on the lower right corner by your clock to "Remove Hardware" if you click on that then choose the device to disconnect, this process will properly disconnect the memory stick.  (just unplugging can cause data to become corrupt, which can cause the reboots)

But to solve this issue, I recommend, moving all data off of the memory stick and reformatting it. (go to my computer, then right click on the device, then click on format, choose a QUICK FORMAT, then press the format button.  This should only take a minute or two)  now put the data back on the memory stick and try it on the computer that it has problems with.  If it still doesn't work, then there must be something quirky with the device.

Another question that is asked often is...who do you recommend for anti-virus protection, and the answer is simple:  AVG.  In fact they even have a free version that is AWESOME and is top notch!  However the free version is meant for residential users only, but they also have a pay version for businesses and corporations that is very well priced too for those using office pc's.   Check out www.grisoft.com   and for the free version check out:  http://free.grisoft.com

Hi Zara,

I can't respond directly to you since you are not a member, but feel free to visit my website www.defpc.net and send me a message so that I have your email address.

To tell what kind (and how much) memory you need, I need the Make and Model # of your computer (such as:  DELL DIMENSION 2400 )   This will allow me to tell you exactly what you need!
