"So how did you happen to get into Real Estate?"

My clients often ask me, "So how did you happen to get into Real Estate?" Well, I briefly explain to them how I was raised in a military family, have been the new kid on the block...on more blocks than I can even remember, and that it was just a natural progression.

I have two college degrees. The first in Interior Design, where I fell in love with New Construction. The thought of making something out of nothing, having everything brand new... fresh paint, stain free carpet, shiny hardwoods, and tile. Model perfect. That was my thing. Having to re-do an entire room around someones dead great aunts lamp, not so much.

The other degree I have is in Business. That is the side that balances out the sometimes unrealistic designer side of me, I guess. It was also the side that realized that new consruction, real estate in general, was not only interesting, it could be a way to make money, too.

As life often does, it moved on. I grew from a young college grad to a new wife. And, as if I had not moved around enough growing up, I went and married a military man. Within six months, we received orders to Italy. I fell in love all over again. But this time with culture, food, architecture, old buildings and churches. Wait a minute... old things? Old things are not my thing! But, Italy, it was so beautiful with gorgeous cathedrals and ancient ruins, all with so many stories, and so much history. I saw a whole new side of life!

Prior to going to Italy, I worked in Interior Design. Upon returning, I worked in various businesses doing finance and selling home loans. Having moved so much myself, I knew how wonderful Garner, NC was as soon as we moved here. It was the first place that felt like home to me, since leaving my hometown all those years ago. I wanted to help other people find that. So, between moving so much myself, having a background in finance and interior design, Real Estate was just a natural progression.
